Macbeth
In the play “Macbeth”, Lady Macbeth is a minor character but plays a major role in the events that unfold throughout the play. Throughout the play, Lady Macbeth lets her selfishness and greed get in the way of reason and thought. Ever since hearing about the witches prophesy stating that he would be the next king, Lady Macbeth changed drastically in character by becoming power hungry and she also had a very hard time controlling her emotions. These strange events can only be explained by the realization that lady Macbeth was possessed by the witches when it suited them the best in order to ensure events unfolded as they wanted them to. This act of possession ultimately resulted in the death of Lady Macbeth.

Lady Macbeth, who is initially a kind and caring person, easily turns greedy and selfish when she learns that Macbeth was told a prophesy by witches stating that he will become the next king of Scotland .the idea of Macbeth as king of all Scotland infatuates lady Macbeth because it means that she will be the new queen of Scotland. She is now set on the idea and pushes the thought on Macbeth that he has to kill King Duncan (the current king) to become the new king. She even goes as far to suggest a plan to murder the king while he stays at their home. This type of behaviour is highly unexpected and odd for Lady Macbeth because she is the wife of a nobleman and therefore expected to be a humble. Her greed and conviction is best shown when she says “yet do I fear thy nature; it is too full o’ the milk of human kindness to catch the nearest way”. In these lines she is telling Macbeth that he doesn’t have what it takes to kill the king single handedly. By saying so she is also setting herself up as superior to Macbeth. The witches had possessed Lady Macbeth to tell Macbeth this and devise a plan to kill the king. By possessing her at this particular moment, they ensured their plan would be followed through.

Lady Macbeth was a very ruthless person. She started out as a meager individual who was hungry for power. This hunger led to the plotting and scheming of many deaths in the play. Being a woman, she cannot imagine her very own children being murdered. The guilt eventually consumes Lady Macbeth to death and it kills her.…

It is crystal clear that Lady Macbeth was influential in Macbeth’s horrendous act of killing the King. She feared that Macbeth was “full of th’ milk of human kindness”. Knowing her husband is ambitious but lacking ruthlessness, she had begged the spirits to “unsex her here and fill her from the crown to the toe with direst cruelty” so she wouldn’t feel guilty for the crime she was persuading her husband to commit.…

Throughout the play she pushed Macbeth and played with his mind to get him to see through her crazed eyes. Macbeth loves his lady, he would do anything for her, and she saw that and uses it to her advantage, heartlessly. Act 1 Scene 5 - "And fill me from the crown to the toe top full Of direst cruelty; make thick my blood, Stop up the access and passage to remorse, That no compunctious visiting’s of nature Shake my fell purpose". This is basically Lady Macbeth pushing Macbeth to feel like she does, which for a sane person is impossible. She feels no remorse for her actions and thinks she is above others for feeling the way she does! She can’t see how Macbeth is feeling regret about something that doesn’t have remedy or…

She had single handedly changed Macbeth’s mind when he had decided he was going to let fate take its course and solely let everything play out however it was going to. He was not entirely desperate to become king and was content with being the Thane of Glamis and the Thane of Cawdor, therefore he was not exactly intent on murdering the king to claim the throne for his own. Though, almost too easily, Lady Macbeth had convinced him that to become king, he had to murder the king and frame someone else-- it was their only course of action. Of course, she was more power hungry than the once humble Macbeth had been, so she had done the framing and most of the schmoozing. In fact, the only thing that even stopped her from murdering the king in the first place was that he looked similar to her father while he had…
