Macbeth
Macbeth is an epic hero in one of William Shakespeare well known tragedy. In the story, Macbeth’s personality drastically changes over time. He goes from being an extremely powerful soldier to a blood thirsty king. Because of his ambition and the inner conflict encountered, Macbeth’s character diverges from what is expected. In the beginning, Macbeth and his best friend Banquo are fighting side by side for king Duncan “… Till that Bellona’s bridegroom, lapped in proof, confronted him with self-comparisons … To conclude, the victory fell on us.” Macbeth does not leave any challenge without a victory. He fights the enemies outnumbering them and assuring the end of their leadership. He is loyal; he does not give up, risking his life, for his beliefs.” The Service and the loyalty I owe, in doing it, pay itself. ” After being named Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth start to believe a forecast revealed by 3 witches announcing that he will become King. The change begins at an early stage in the play. Whenever Lady Macbeth pushes her husband to murder king Duncan, Macbeth is reluctant at first “He's here in double trust; first, as I am his kinsman and his subject, strong both against the deed; then, as his host, who should against his murderer shut the door, not bear the knife myself.” He shows that he is devoted to King Duncan. Later on, his inspirations drive him to react without second thought about the murder” False face must hide what the false heart doth know.” Macbeth evil deeds increase the suspense. After the murder of King Duncan, we do not expect him to commit any other murder, but the dark mood and the evil personality of Macbeth extend during the rest of the scene causing him to plan better murder without the help of Lady Macbeth. It is surprising to see Macbeth hiring somebody to do his dirty deeds “Know that it was he in the times past which held you so under fortune… Say Thus did Banquo.” We can infer that he is manipulative. He keeps

Much like Macbeth did to Duncan, Banquo and the whole land of Scotland in order to gain power and become Thane of Cawdor and eventually King. Macbeth betrayed Scotland, but he wasn’t the only one at fault. Lady Macbeth and the three witches took a role in the destruction and betrayal that went on in Scotland. Also, Macbeth shows his betrayal by befriending Duncan and Banquo then plotting against them and killing them in order for him to become Thane of Cawdor and King. Finally, Macbeth shows his betrayal throughout Scotland for putting the blame of the murders on someone else but having the guilt.…

The witches and their prophecies are the first major influence on Macbeth’s actions. The three witches planted the seed of ambition within Macbeth. They were the driving force behind Banquo and King Duncan's killing. The witches prophesized that his life would completely change, by becoming thane of Cawdor, then king of Scotland. At first, Macbeth dismissed their prophecies, but after he was promoted to Thane of Cawdor, Macbeth wondered if he will be King, too. "If chance will have me king, why chance may crown me without my stir." Another prophecy made by the witches was that Banquo's son will be king. Fuelled by paranoia, lack of sleep and visions, Macbeth was thrown into a state of confusion and a belief that the prophecies were inevitable.…

In our wordle we used a white background that represents Lady Macbeths appearance and how society views Lady Macbeth as a woman, innocent as a white dove. We make the words a dark theme along witht the color red for it represents lady Macbeths true nature and the contrast in the colors represent how her character breaks the female sterotypes. The first trait i identified she had is megalomania. The quote I chose for her megalomania personality is: “And fill me from head to toe, top full of direst cruely” (1.5.45-46) This quote shows how Lady Macbeth is willing to give up the gentleness of humankind to achieve to achieve power to make her dream sound more dramatic in terms of de she said desires. She said “ take my milk for gall” (1.5.51) Women’s milk symbolises her feminine personality by saying this , Lady macbet wants the spirits to strip her feminine personality so that she can achieve her desire. These two quotes indicate Lady macbeth’s greed for power even if she has to lose herself to gain more .…

Shakespeare includes hints to show that Lady Macbeth is not as fearless as she first appeared. She is slowly changing and is losing her sanity because of her actions. She admits that she wishes she were dead she feels guilty for what she has done and can not hide the fact that she regrets her actions. Lady Macbeth expresses her discontent by saying “Tis safer to be that which we destroy/ Than, by destruction, dwell in doubtful joy.” (3.2.8-9). This is not the only time Lady Macbeth shows some sign of regret. After the murder of Duncan Lady Macbeth faints. Although some may see this as an attempt to trick those around her it can also be seen as a reaction of fear. Lady Macbeth fears what she has done and it will come back to haunt her in the near future. Macduff quotes “O, gentle lady, / ‘Tis not for you to hear what I can speak:/ The repetition, in a woman’s ear, / Would murder as it fell (2.3.92-95). The audience understands the dramatic irony as Lady Macbeth is the one who helped accomplish the murder. The final event that occurs to show this transition in Lady Macbeth’s character is Macbeth revealing that he and Lady Macbeth experience nightmares. This piece of information reveals Lady Macbeth’s guilty feelings and impacts her sleep habits. This same problem is then shown in later scenes but with a worse effect. Macbeth, afraid of what he has done…

Considering whether or not to feel sympathy for Macbeth can be based upon whether or not you think Macbeth has any control of his own destiny. If you think of Macbeth as a pawn in his own game, then you can feel sympathy. He is controlled by the witches, who promise him the crown, at exactly the right time when he has just been "promoted" to Thane of Cawdor. The witches give him something else to strive for. Macbeth is also controlled by his aggressive and demanding wife. He has no choice but to follow her plans. In these instances, you can feel sorry for Macbeth because he is unable to make good decisions because of the pressure from the witches and his wife. However, if you think Macbeth is simply irrational and power hungry then he gets what he deserves in the end, no sympathy for the continuous bad choices he made. He was doing well by simply supporting and fighting for King Duncan and Scotland. It is difficult to feel sympathy for a character who continues to make bad choices.…
