Lysandra should be justified to take revenge on Elaine because she deliberately took something special from Lysandra and it’s fair to do the same thing to her. Firstly, Elaine could have told Lysandra what the judges look for in poetry. Elaine didn’t put much effort on her poem but still wanted to win the contest. Elaine said, for example “Of course I was a shoo—in to win that contest” (129).
Elaine knew what the judges desire in a poem so she took an advantage of that on her own poem. She knew what the contest meant to Lysandra and she didn’t share to her what she knew and didn’t even comment on her twenty three pages of poems. Therefore Elaine won the contest without guilt and it ruined her friendship with Lysandra. Next, the loss
