Lyndon Johnson: What Makes A Great Leader?
What makes a great leader? There are countless examples of people who have lead their country, people, or religion with stunning capability. These people, although very different, all have one thing that they share, a quality personality which allows them to make the decisions that are needed to lead. With this essay, we will go in-depth into the qualities courage, mercy, and patriotism, and the men who had them. One such characteristic is courage. Harry Truman is one that might immediately pop into the mind of the reader. Truman faced the biggest decision in the fate of WWII, but mostly Japan. He had the immense courage required to end the war with the most destructive power in the world at that time, the atomic bomb. Another leader with courage is Lyndon Johnson. Johnson had the courage to push for the civil rights of all Americans. This gave much negative feedback, but he still worked nevertheless. Harry Truman was very patriotic to the United States. Truman never gave up on the war, letting Nazism, Communism, and Socialism spread. The policy he used during this time is now known as containment, and is still used to this day. Lyndon Johnson was patriotic to the United States as well. He had an idea to revitalize the country, known as “The Great Society.” He pushed for the idea of a more perfect country through this, and made the country better through this. Adolf Hitler had as much patriotism as any leader, maybe even more. The start to his rise to power was started because he wanted to regain Germany’s pride, lost at the end of WWI. Even during the Holocaust, he never lost sight on rebuilding Germany to its former glory. This is the most important characteristic any leader needs to become great, as this is what we use to determine if that person will lead us in our own way, whether it be the American or German

Franklin Delano Roosevelt is easily the best president of his era. He had the single best approach to the economic problems and social problems that followed the economic problems of the time. Many people would say that he couldn’t make decisions for himself because of how he was constantly changing his ideas but in truth, his plan was to do whatever it took to work and he was going to make something work. In case it was not known, FDR was a fighter. He never gave up on the USA or stepped down even after being stricken by polio. A lot of his ideas came from his “brain trust” which was comprised of many advisors of all different back rounds and political beliefs. He was constantly keeping the American people informed with the state of the government and economy through a new invention popularly known as the radio. He would go out of his way to help the banks and would do anything to dig the US out of the pit that Hoover had dug and did nothing really to dig them out other than laying the foundation for FDR to bring America back from the brink of complete collapse. Using the foundation laid by Hoover many Administrations, Acts, and even some Corporations were put in place and somewhere welcomed and others weren’t, but FDR took all of the success and failures and made sure it worked out for the American people and the world when WWII came around. His foreign policy in WWII was very much respected and still is today because FDR would not let the crimes of others go unpunished. All in all everything FDR did was for the best of this country and the way he handled WWII both domestically and overseas.…

But, with all things foretold, what designates someone the power to lead people? There are several factors that bring about a good leader. The three main factors incorporate communication, confidence, and commitment. Anybody that decides to encompass these factors, will not only be a good leader, but they will also be an effective and a revolutionary leader.…
