Lungs are organs in the human chest. When you breathe in, oxygen makes its way to the lungs. There it turns into carbon dioxide, which you breathe out. Lung cancer is the constant growth of irregular cells that begin forming in one or both lungs. These cells do not create healthy lung tissue, they divide immediately, forming tumors. As tumors grow and reproduce, they keep the lungs from being able to give oxygen to the bloodstream. Tumors that stay in one area and do not spread are called benign tumors.
