Lumia 535 Case Study
Once upon a time, to save Nokia from completely disappearing off the face of the Earth, Windows came to the rescue and bought the company. Thus was the birth of a new line of mobile phones with the trademark sturdiness and user-friendly system of Nokia and the sophisticated design and interface of Windows. This was called the Lumia.

I am the owner of a Lumia 535; which is somewhere along the first few units this line has churned out. Windows probably made a few modifications and improvements down the line with its latest releases, but for this one, I would like to talk about something close to home.

My dear Lumia 535, you have definitely served me well, but your slip-ups cannot be ignored.

The first perk of this unit is its sturdy glass

Now we're talking. As a millennial, I cannot deny the importance of social media in my day-to-day life. The Google Play Store has the basic social media applications for this phone: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Kik, even; enough to make me straddle the line between digital native and not-tech-savvy-tita. I've often been asked by friends for my Snapchat account, something that I do not have (thankfully?) due to its absence on this phone. Unfortunately (or fortunately, I don't know), Snapchat does not have an app for Windows—yet. That's something I'm still waiting for. Also, the apps, though they are present, have a few limitations: for example, my Facebook for Windows app lacks the new updates Facebook has for Apple and Samsung users. My messenger app lacks the message request feature. Twitter does not allow me to see my follower requests. Do not get me started on Instagram: I can't see any kind of activity involving my posts (follower requests, likes, comments), the likes tab is an empty screen saying "There's no activity to show"; when, upon checking, my latest post recently gained 17 likes. It also crashes far too many times to be deemed normal; I’ve uninstalled and re-installed it more than five times. It's ridiculous. And annoying. I need my dose of social media now and …show more content…
A personal favorite of mine is the OneNote app; which allows you to create notes on your phone and sync them with your laptop, or vice versa (this way, I always have backup files on me any time). The Health+ app works awesome for workout and diet plans. The maps, though it is only accessible with an internet or data connection, has helped me find my way through Manila more than once. Its platoon of Camera apps--Lumia Selfie (a dream come true), Cinemagraph (which allows you to animate your photos), and Lumia Creative Studio (allows photo editing)—have been a source of entertainment and pretty selfies for both myself and my

The application I choose is Facebook Mobile. Facebook Mobile is an application that allows a user to access Facebook directly from their cell phone. Facebook Mobile was designed to give Facebook users the ability to view and update their pages on-the-go such as, what they are doing, who they are with, and allows people to share photos of their activities. Facebook Mobile is convenient for the average person in ways to keep in touch with old school mates, friends, family, and new friends. Facebook Mobile is also beneficial in the business world for reasons of looking up a potential future employee and seeing how their life is lived and what type of person they are and if they fit the job qualities. Have you ever been in an awkward situation and did not know what to do? Easy! Just go on your phone to Facebook Mobile and see what your friends and family are up to, or like certain pages that will keep you entertained. There are a lot of pages that can teach things to you. There are all types of entertainment such as the news of what is going on in the world or your community, funny videos that lighten the mood, and various types of pictures. Ever run in to an old friend on the go and they lost their phone? Easy way to keep in touch, go on Facebook Mobile and add them as a friend! Facebook Mobile is a great way to reach out to people if they owe you money from court cases, loans etc. Millions of people use Facebook mobile. For the first time in the company's history, the number of mobile daily active users surpassed the number of users checking Facebook on the web. With the smartphone and tablet markets seeing their numbers increase dramatically during 2012, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise to learn more people are using mobile devices to stay connected to Facebook. Considering in September only 126 million people used Facebook on mobile devices, and on average, 618 million people used the website daily in December, you can see why the network is so happy with…

If inspecting from the functional perspective, the social applications do assist with social business like personal contacting, in case the traditional voice channels (e.g. phones) are not applicable occasionally; or to utilize collaborative apps to support jobs done by a personal preference. The relatively prominent issues are 1.) the synchronization of mutual information could be tough to share and control if two persons have to do a co-working but with each respective application; 2.) the tracking path of this detailed work process could be varying from individual to individual, that would cause a conflict when a traceability negotiation is required.…

In the age of smartphones dominated by the iPhone, Samsung came out as the main contender to take on Apple’s phones. The introduction of the new line of iPhone, the 6 and the 6 Plus, was met with great excitement, and, unfortunately for Apple, with an issue that overshadowed everything else. When a few people complained that their new iPhones were getting bent by just being in the pants’ pockets. The flimsy hardware problem was not a numerous as it was led to believe, and it slowly died down, but…

Mobile social networking is social networking where individuals with similar interests converse and connect with one another through their mobile phone and/or tablet. Much like web-based social networking, mobile social networking occurs in virtual communities. A current trend for social networking websites, such as Facebook,[1] is to create mobile apps to give their users instant and real-time access from their device. In turn, native mobile social networks have been created like Foursquare, Instagram, and Path, communities which are built around mobile functionality. More and more, the line between mobile and web is being blurred as mobile apps use existing social networks to create native communities and promote discovery, and web-based social networks take advantage of mobile features and accessibility. As mobile web evolved from proprietary mobile technologies and networks, to full mobile access to the Internet, the distinction changed to the following types: 1) Web based social networks being extended for mobile access through mobile browsers and smartphone apps, and 2) Native mobile social networks with dedicated focus on mobile use like mobile communication, location-based services, and augmented reality, requiring mobile devices and technology.…
