In the text the Night people are mean to each other because Nazis are killing the Jews for no reason but just because they want to control the world. All the lies that the Jews were telling their left were left behind; young children and old people were killed if they could work. This is a quote from the book that will prove my point. "They were burning something. A lorry drew up at the pit and delivered its load- little children, babies! I saw it with my own eyes those children inflames."(Pg2). This quote is showing how people are killing each other for no reason and had or shown no sympathy.
In the story the Chrysanthemums people are mean to each other because they just use each other for their own benefit. In the beginning Elisa didn't want to give the stranger a job until he persuades her into giving him one. This is a quote from the story that supports my thesis. "Elisa brought him a fifty-cent piece from the house and droop it in his hand." (Pg8).The Stanger had trick Elisa into giving him a job by telling her good things about her chrysanthemums plant and by telling her a story about a lady that wanted some chrysanthemums. This quote is showing how the man use Elisa for money because that night she found out what he did to the chrysanthemums then she realized what had happen. In the story the chrysanthemums the author use symbolism as the literacy device. The chrysanthemums symbolize Elisa and her life; the chrysanthemums are lovely, strong and thriving. Their flowerbed is like Elisa's house clean and tidy. Elisa also compares herself to the flowers, even saying that she becomes one with the plants when she is taking care of them. When the stranger notices the chrysanthemums, Elisa spirit brightens, just as if he had noticed her. She offers the chrysanthemums to him at the same time she offers herself, both of which he didn't want and he toss them aside, Because he wasn't interesting in them but only to make money so he could survived. The earth is beautiful and clean but it has a disease called men because they are destroying it bit by bit each day. In the story Night people are mean to each other by killing each other for no reason, and in the story The Chrysanthemum people are mean to each other because they use each other’s for their own benefit even if they hurt the other person. If man continues to do what they’re doing the earth will soon be destroyed.
