Accepting how I am created……………
Since being a part of this class and learning about the LSI assessment, I was quite intrigued with findings of my results. My reality is actually knowing the results are things which have been spoken about me all of my life. Seeing it from another angle gave me additional insight. I have taken these results and am now able to assess my strengths and weaknesses for where I am now in life, including career, allowing me to either develop new behaviors or enhance them in order to dig deeper in self-assessment to become a more cultivated person.
My results showed as follows:
The CONSTRUCTIVE Styles (11, 12, 1, and 2 o'clock positions) reflect self-enhancing thinking and behavior that contribute to one's level of satisfaction, ability to develop healthy relationships and work effectively with people, and proficiency at accomplishing tasks. The PASSIVE/DEFENSIVE Styles (3, 4, 5, and 6 o'clock positions) represent self-protecting thinking and behavior that promote the fulfillment of security needs through interaction with people. The AGGRESSIVE/DEFENSIVE Styles (7, 8, 9, and 10 o'clock positions) reflect self-promoting thinking and behavior used to maintain one's status/position and fulfill security needs through task-related activities. Bridging the elements of coming from a family of mixed cultures and races who fought through the Civil Rights Movement, as well as being established entrepreneurs, there was a strict yet flexible environment focusing on educational, athletic, community, spiritual and business achievements even as a child. I was forced to adapt to developing a humble yet victorious attitude with a tenacity to achieve higher goals, whether set by myself or those of influence. As I reflect on this thinking style, I recognized the things I have excelled in such as receiving the Gold Award and Silver Award in Girl Scouting, honor roll, oratorical contest winnings and awards, scholarships, and many community recognitions. In actuality, this is now why I am pursuing my Masters because I know I am now ready to go to the next level in my career, specifically with taking my company global. I am not one who really speaks on these accomplishments because I feel they label me somewhat a nerd. Knowing the social side of me, having a label as such was not cool, so I downplayed these things. When people have found out about them, I have always been then placed in leadership or manager roles and consistently heard “I knew it was something about you.” Usually, I am quite laid back about my achievements because from the social perspective I was dealing with...
