Lovenox was created in 1993 and approved in 12/30/1998. It was created initially at Rhone-Poulence Rorer Pharmaceutical Inc. Enoxaparin, the generic name for Lovenox, is a complex mixture of Oligosaccharides that vary in chemical structure and size. Oligosaccharides are carbohydrates whose molecules are composed of relatively small numbers of monosaccharide units. It is made up of heparin by chemically breaking up the larger heparin chains into smaller fragments. The qualities of the heparin and the chemical process used to cleave the heparin determine the complex chemical features of enoxaparin. Deep vein thombosis is a condition is a condtion where a blood clot forms in the deep veins of the arms and legs.
