Love Lost, Edgar Allan Poe “Annabel Lee” In the poem of “Annabel Lee” by Edgar Allan Poe, the speaker reminiscence about his long-lost love Annabel Lee. When you think about love lots of words come to mind. Love has many meanings, states, and attitudes. You can love someone or something in so many ways. When you search the meaning of love it means that you have a strong feeling of affection and concern for another person. When I think of love first think comes to mind is the poem of “Annabel Lee”, this poem really describes what love is, and puts all the meaning of what someone will do for the person they love. “Annabel Lee” is a very creative and meaningful poem which has many symbols which all lead in the direction of Love-Lost. …show more content…
Maybe it was a bad thing, because our speaker blames the angels for killing his girlfriend. Apparently a wind came down from the clouds, which made Annabel Lee sick and then eventually killed her.     Poe utilizes the raven as a means of placing a dark tone on his poem when the narrator asks if “[he] shall clasp a sainted maiden whom the angels name Lenore-/ Clasp a rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore” (94-95). The raven responds with “‘Nevermore’” (96). The widower questions the raven if he will ever get the chance to hold his wife again, and the raven replies that he will not, showing Poe’s tone of despair and misery.
