Love At First Sight In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
I believe that love at first sight is not true love at all and cannot endure. Determining whether you love someone based solely on a person’s physical looks, does not make it true love.
In Shakespeare's play, Romeo and Juliet, Romeo proclaims his love for Juliet by saying, “Did my heart love till now? Forswear it, sight! / For I ne’er saw true beauty till this night,” (I. v. 50-510).
Romeo thought he had seen beauty and that his heart knew love before that night, but now believes he was wrong, once he lays eyes on Juliet. He is convinced that she is his true love. Unbeknown to him, she is the daughter of Capulet, Romeo’s archenemy, whom he despises with a passion. Declaring “love at first sight” is haphazard and determined solely on physical
