Can Teenagers Really Fall in Love?

LOVE. It’s a simple but overused word. Teenagers might use this word to define their relationship, but in reality it’s just lust, puppy love, and attraction. Do you really think love exists for teenagers? In my opinion, teenagers are still in the process of becoming adults and are still not ready to define love. Love requires maturity and knowledge. I believe teens can’t fall in love because they still need more life experiences and they need to know the difference between infatuation and love.

Teenagers are in the stage in which they aren’t kids or adults, so they might not know how they feel exactly. Love requires life experiences, so teenagers aren’t ready for it. For example, our parents and grandparents have already been through many experiences and know what love really is. Teens might think they are in love, but maybe it’s only cupid messing with them or it’s just an attraction. For instance, I remember when my cousin swore she was in
“love” with a football player, but that “love” only lasted a week. Do you think that is love? Some teens might think they are in love, but it might only be infatuation. Infatuation is just a physical attraction for someone or a crush. Love is much more than that, it is caring and loving for that other person no matter what happens. Love is also giving and not taking. I know some people that believe infatuation is love. For example, my friend thought she was in love with her boyfriend, but she actually just loved his eyes and his smile. So infatuation doesn’t help a relationship at all and love does because it prospers and grows each day more. Love also helps a person grow as well. Many people might say teenagers can fall in love and I agree in a way because love just happens without knowing its coming. Some teens might actually be in love and I’ve also known people like my parents that have been in love since they were teens, but overall I think teens can’t fall in love because teens are too young and don’t know what love really is. I also believe teens need to mature and know themselves better before they even begin to think about love. Love needs time and patience because love just comes to you when you least expect it. I am convinced that teenagers can’t fall in love. Teenagers need more maturity, knowledge, and more life experiences to know what love really is. I consider that love is too powerful for teens to understand. Teens sometimes just play around with their emotions and don’t stop and think if they are in love. Sometimes teens might mix up infatuation with love, but they are totally different. Love is unconditional affection with no limits or conditions.
