In “Lord of the Flies” William Golding portrays many biblical examples through various characters. One character is named Simon which portrays Jesus and another character is named Roger which portrays the devil. One example that I think Simon acts like Jesus is when Simon, was sitting between the twins and Piggy, he wiped his mouth and shoved his piece of meat over the rocks to Piggy, who grabbed it (Golding 74). This shows that Simon gave his food to Piggy who was not able to have any and I related this incident to Jesus because he gave bread and food to the homeless which is biblical and shows that he has the same traits as Jesus did. Not only did Roger try to hurt Henry but he was the main cause in Simon’s death by acting like a pig and charging people making them get all excited and start to chant and rally (Golding 151). This caused the villagers to show aggression towards the so called beasts so when Simon flew into the beach the hunters and himself thought Simon was the beasts and they killed him. And this is related to devilish characteristics because Roger participated in killing Simon. Another example of Roger showing devilish actions is when the kids first killed their pig the way that he was aggressive in killing the pig showing true evil in how happy he was to kill the pig (Golding 135). But the main reason that shows that Roger is evil is that he's mean to everyone that he doesn't respect especially Piggy showing that he is verbally cruel and hateful towards them which is another reason why he is associated with the devil. The last example that proved to me that Roger portrayed actions of the devil is when him and jack stole the fire from Ralph which stealing is a sin and the devil is full of them and doesn't obey by gods morals but not only is stealing a sin but talking another persons life which Roger did by participated in killing Simon which is the worst sin of them all and it shows that he is the
