1) There are no court fees. In the situation if court fees have already been paid, it will be refunded provided the dispute is settled at Lok Adalat.
2) There is no strict application of the legal and procedural technicalities and laws and the evidence act while evaluating merits of the claim by Lok Adalat. Lok Adalats are also known as peoples festival of justice. Unlike normal court proceedings, parties to the dispute although are represented by their advocates, they can directly interact with the Lok Adalat judge and explain their stance in the dispute and stated the reasons thereof. This is not possible in a regular court of law.
3) Disputes can be directly placed before Lok Adalats instead of a detour through regular courts first

The institute of Lok Adalat evolved as an instrument to provide access to justice to all in equal terms and to provide it quickly and without any cost.
From the research project it is found that the concept of Lok Adalat is for the interest of people and lies in arriving at amicable, immediate, consensual and peaceful settlement of disputes. The working of Lok Adalats has proved to be rather successful by achieving the required objectives for which it was set up. Thus in the case of Indian society and the dispute arising in it, the institution of Lok Adalat has been of a better utility.
While Lok Adalats have proved to be extremely efficacious for disposal of simple straightforward cases such as complaints under section 138 of the Negotiable Instruments Act, 1881, recovery suits, electricity disputes, motor accident claim cases, traffic challans, etc., they may not be very effective for resolution of complex cases such as partition suits, family disputes, complex commercial cases, matrimonial
