Lois Simmie: The Purpose Of John Wilson's Autobiography
The purpose of Sgt. John Wilson is to provide information to the reader in the sense of an autobiography. Lois Simmie accomplishes Excellency in foreshadowing the event in the prologue. But not completely throwing it away until much further in the book. If this were a novel, the sequence of events would change completely, but it’s not, this is an autobiography, the order of events do not have to be precise to be followed 100% all the way through. Portrayal of Canadian history is a big deal here. This is not something to tread lightly on. Also the purpose of the autobiography is to showcase this insane psychopathic male actions that take place in mainly Saskatchewan but also Scotland and British Columbia. Nevertheless another huge purpose of the author is to satisfy the reader (viewer’s) brain thirst. Lois manages a remarkable undertaking with changing the old language into a modern work of art.
Lois Simmie job is also to entertain the reader, which she does by getting actual real information from letters and true statements from real time and events.

One of the things that made Sgt. John Wilson such a powerful book was the connection between writer to reader. Lois Simmie put a lot of effort trying to relate to a conversation in the book. The purpose is definitely filled with all the letters that are added into the book. There’s only positive feedback to put in this book which you could say add a letter or two, maybe just to extend the duration of the books time for the price 22$. There has never been a movie made on the subject and if there was it would be a quite successful movie on the book considering it could be dramatized for viewer's

I do agree with Wilson's suggestion that the meaning of the word issue began to change in what he calls "the age of psychobabble" but I believe it changed foe the better. In this letter, Wilson states "it somehow now seemed mundane to be angry or injured or broke; adding issues to the conditions made them more dramatic and in need of therapy or counseling"(Par.4) but I just can't seem to agree with that statement. I believe people began using the word issue because it became a lot less problematic than just stating the obvious. For example, if you tell someone they're fat then they're less likely to even listen to what you want them to hear but if tell them they've got "weight issues", you may get somewhere.…

Let's just get this clear, I love war books, I love history in general. This made an easy depiction of what the Vietnam War was like. It was easy to read, and it wasn’t even confusing. My least favorite part of this whole book is that before Morris and Moses got in that huge battle in the delta, Moses showed Morris a picture of his baby back at home. When the battle was over and they were picking up debris, Moses all of a sudden got shot by a sniper. This made me so mad because now his son will never get to see his dad and Moses will never get to see his son but with the only one picture he has of him. I wanted to throw my book at the wall. This book was brutal, I have to be honest,”I cut off almost his whole head. I did that. Me. I never could have done that back home, that's for sure."(167) It was full of friendships, full of deaths, and full of fighting. The ending was ok, I say this only because it’s a series and every book is from the perspective of either Ivan, Beck, Morris, or Rudi. I think it could've ended a little better. It ended with Moses death, which again, made me very mad. It was very predictable, one friend always dies in a war movie of book. The theme for this book is also the last sentence of the book which is, “if friendship has an opposite, it’s…

The biography of Woodrow Wilson Guthrie was pretty interesting his ability to create songs, novels, drawings, paintings and poems from everything he contributed is surprising. During his childhood Woody didn’t have a good view on life since he went through so many losses in his personal life. However, reading Woody’s life history it seemed to me as if he wore riding a roller coaster. Woody seemed like a type of person who would get tired of what they had and move on quick. He couldn’t stay living in one place so he traveled from Oklahoma, to California and finally New York. Not only did he have a tendency to want new things in life, but also new wives. Woody married three women and had an average of eight children to whom he would leave.…
