Trivial decisions such as staying up late, skipping breakfast, and procrastinating have had small, but monumental impacts on my decision-making. Through staying up late, I learned that I need enough sleep to wake up in the morning. By skipping breakfast, I realized I would be hungry throughout the day and unable to concentrate. Procrastination has taught me that exceptional work requires both time and effort. My parents have taught me more lessons than anyone simply by telling me not to do these things. Experience is not gained solely by reading books, attending school, or talking to parents; it is by experiencing first-hand that we become better than our mistakes. Being taught to own up to my mistakes and learn from them rather than sulk about them in regret is the most important lesson I have been taught. My parents taught me to respect my elders because they are wiser than me. My grandparents are wise because they have experienced more than both my parents and I.
