LOCATION SCOUT/SITE SURVEY FORM – DAY/EXT
Ext. Lynch School of education
Date/Time I scouted this location
I scouted this location on, September 17 at 3:00PM

Subject: Carlos Contreras LSOE ’12, History Teacher
I will be interviewing Carlos Contreras, a recent BC undergrad and grad student who has moved on to opportunities as a history teacher at a local high school. I will be asking Carlos about his recent transition from student to teacher and how it has been adjusting to being on the other side of the relationship after so man years of schooling.

Name & Address of location:
Lynch School of Education
Campion Hall
Newton, MA 02467

What action will take place here?
The shot will be of an interview situated in front of Campion Hall on Boston College’s Main Campus. This area is usually one of heavy student traffic so there will be students walking in and out of the building framed. There is also a road in the frame, which could lead to some cars driving by within the frame.

Why is this location appropriate?
This location works because it is the site of our esteemed school of education where many teachers like Carlos have been trained to begin a career in educating. The building is representative of the path traveled to become a teacher at BC and one where Carlos has spent much of his time learning.

What visual elements make this choice perfect?
The angle at which the building will be shot allows for both sides of the building to be in frame and well lit. If framed correctly the gate in the right hand of the frame will add a sense of depth to the shot without being to distracting and adds a sense of a journey beyond or after the classroom.

Where was the sun when you scouted? What would be its path during your shoot?
The Sun was high in the sky and set slightly in front of the building so that it touched the front and side of the building. The entire building that was in frame is lit in the afternoon. During the shoot the sun will get look and become hotter on the sides of the building.

Are there background elements that may change/be distracting?
There will be students walking in the background, which will add to the sense of a learning environment. The time of the shoot will have to be strategic to have not too many students as to detract from what the subject is saying. Cars driving by could also interrupt the action of the interview due to the proximity of the shot.

Are there sound elements that may change/be distracting?
There may be excess chatter and cars driving by if shot at the wrong time. I don’t suspect birds or natural sound to be a problem.

What is the best time to shoot here?
The sun is best for this shoot after 1PM because it allows for the whole building to pop with light. The shoot would be best done shortly after the start of the hour after most students have gone to class. This should be shortly after to hopefully catch a few late stragglers in the shot.

Where will you load-in from?
The Beacon street entrance

Where will you stage the equipment?
Please see Maps

Where can you/the crew park? Number of vehicles?
There is parking in the rear of McGuinn and Cushing. I don’t suspect we will need a car as we can load the equipment straight from Devlin Hall.

Where are the nearest bathroom facilities?
There are easily accessible bathrooms in McGuinn, Cushing and Campion.

Where can you get food/drinks for the subject/talent & the crew?
I can get food from The Rat, in the basement of Lyons Hall. There is an excellent assortment of muffins and juices.

Equipment List:
1 JVC- GY HD 200U
1 Battery charger
1 extra battery
1 DV Tape
1 Sachtler D12 fluid head
2 C-Stands with single arm
2 sandbags

The light entering the scene is from the exterior of the building or through the iron-gate windows. It appears to be sunlight and it's coming in from only one direction. As the camera switches from actor to actor the direction of light and shadows that appear on their faces are dependent upon where they are standing in the room and what direction the light is hitting them.…

The subject I chose for my interview is one of my best friends, Jonathan Manrique. We work together in elementary school. Jonathan comes from a small family; he is one of five children in the family and only has one close relative in the United States. Jonathan is American but lived most of his life in Venezuela (since he was 2 years old) until 5 years ago when he moved back and is 32 years old. Jonathan graduated in Business Administration in Venezuela and took classes to become teacher when he moved back to 2 United States. He works for one of the biggest school district in Houston Texas. He would probably be considered middle class. Jonathan is an extremely smart and independent. I think he is a very interested interviewee.…

Along the lines of locations, Mrs. Martino and Mr. Sperl explained that the buildings and classes are far superior to anything that a regular school district can supply. With that being said, both students explained their experiences with BOCES and the challenges they faced, whether that be at their home schools or with their field in general. Ms. Ranalli seemed to appreciate the fact that these students have earned an extensive education and that BOCES gave them the chance to be ahead of those of their age. To add to the experiences of the students and to solidify the idea of BOCES education for all students, Mrs. Martino pointed out the fact that these two students were of higher class rankings in their…

Title: Glance Left and Right Artist: Pattara Chanruechachai Medium: Photograph Print on Newspaper Dimensions: 250 x 250 Date: 2013 Description: Chanruechachai creates a work that analyzes and criticizes the current urban condition where deterioration and regeneration of urban sprawl take place. He prints the images of deserted buildings found in the suburbs and pastes them onto newspapers that have articles on the economic crash from Thailand and Europe as his canvas. The taken photo shows a disproportional weighed view which gives the viewer a distorted and chaotic feel. It has several low hanging wires across the canvas bringing out a very heavy and dramatic environment. I can see that the newspaper created an impression of acting as the building’s wall, which I interpret as showing a very destructed and wasted building. The photo is somewhat monochromatic as it tends to capture more on the moment than the scene. It tends to let the people seeing the photo feel the deep drama of the image. Every line and details the photo suggests are all very defined and bold; thus the photo is most probably shot in a high exposure setting. Analysis As I view this piece, my eyes are occasionally led very straight as the perspective of Chanruechachai is right in the middle, trying to take the photo from the lower part of…

Establishing shots, exterior,day- it was Friday and it was a rainy day. We arrived at the Cultural Center of the Philippines(CCP) at 4 in the afternoon. I was very excited to attend the 9th Cinemalaya festival. We rode the orange jeep to the CCP complex and went down at Harbor Square. I loved that crossroad because it led to a wonderful experience and a beginning of a new addiction. We took lots of pictures outside the building to get a nice shot with the “CINEMALAYA” as our background. Just as we were about to pose for a shot, the fountain was turned on—it was pretty cool. I have never been inside the CCP before and I didn’t know what to expect of the interior but I imagined it to be bigger than it really was. My imagination was always a little exaggerated. As we entered the building, I scanned around the place: classy. We went up and checked out the work of arts all over the walls. We went in all the galleries and took lots of pictures for remembrance. It almost felt like we were there to have a photo shoot. Four floors and 50 pictures later, the program finally started.…
