DPCGES: It’s Historical Antecedent
Doῇa Pilar C. Gonzaga Elementary School was once a part of Eulogio Rodriguez Elementary School 1. Due to the increasing enrolment, the school site and facilities needed expansion and improvement, which made the school administrator and parents sought the help of civic spirited Doῇa Pilar C. Gonzaga by donating 2,523 square meter-lot to the school. This was acquired in 1971 with the help of the Municipal Government. The first building built in the new site was the Marcos Type Building, which housed the six sections of Grade IV pupils. This was followed in 1976, a Rodriguez building with 18 classrooms was built. This was occupied by all other grades. The new building was named Doῇa Pilar C. Gonzaga Elementary School in honor of Doῇa Pilar C. Gonzaga, the donor of the lot. Mrs. Segundina C. Omaῇa served as principal from 1976-1982; Mrs. Maria O. Reyes from 1983-1986; Mrs. Erlinda T. Celestial, 1986-1988; Mr. Agustin Garcera, 1988-1993; Mrs. Sylvania C. Liwanag, 1993-1994; Mrs. Emelinda A. Osillo, 1994-1996; Miss Josefina A. Anselmo, 1996-1997; Mrs. Caridad S. Maramba, the assistant to the principal was designated as the officer-in-charge from June 1997 to October, 1997; Mrs Gregorio L. Ignacio, 1997-1998, Mrs. Carmelita S. Peregrino, 1998-2000; Mrs. Rosalina G. OOjeda, April 2000 to September 2000; Mrs. Janet M. Mariano, October, 2000-2003; Mrs. Luz T. Amaro, 2003-2006; Mrs. Whelma M. Hilario, 2006-2010; Mr. Romeo E. Bandal, 2010-2011; Mrs. Ellalyn A. Abutal, 2011 to present. The school has undergone a lot of renovations and improvements through the efforts of the past and present school administrators, with the aid of the national and local government. The G eneral PTA also took its part on minor improvements. Due to the combined efforts of the teaching and non-teaching personnel, pupils and parents, DPCGES was adjudged “The Cleanest and Most Beautiful School” by the Division of City Schools of Quezon City for three consecutive...
