On the 11th of October 2013, I attended the Girls’ Generation Girls & Peace World Tour concert which was located in Singapore. The concert was held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium and it was 2 hours and 45 minutes long including the short breaks in between a few songs. There were only 10,000 people that went to the concert eventhough the stadium can hold up to 12,000 people. The ticket price range was as low as $178 to $288 Singapore dollars. There were 2 sections for the higher priced ticket holders which was located close to the stage and for the lower priced ticket holders had seats which was located and the east, west and north section of the stadium. The group performed 27 songs during the concert.
During the concert, there were a few staff standing in the seating section surrounded by huge electronic devices. I found out that the electronic devices was used to control the volume and the base of the speakers . If the speakers are not adjusted to the right pitch, the speakers might be spoilt during the concert as the songs played from the speakers would be quite loud. It was also used to control the lights and the other effects on stage. They also needed the group to do a rehearsal to do a sound check for the microphones and other audio equipment. Microphones without the proper pitch range might be faulty during the concert. The rest of the staff backstage made sure everything went smoothly.
The concert was a kpop concert but the group still sang a few English songs. The group performed a song called ‘ Can’t Take My Eyes Off You’ by Frankie Valli. The song is actually sung at a moderately slow tempo but during the concert, the group sang the song at a lively tempo to make it more exciting. It was a major key song because it was a happy and bright song. The beat of the song during the concert was faster than the beat of how the song is originally played. All the instrumental sounds have been recorded before and played through the stereo system, that’s why

The lights on the sides of the stage shines right into the audience’s faces that were sitting on the far sides of the house. Besides this distraction, the lighting was often very dim or sparsely lit. I thought it might have been a limitation of the space, but there were a few scenes that were very well lit, so I was confused about the purpose of that. It didn’t really seem to add much to the production and was much more distracting in its limitations than it was enhancing. Sound was a prominent part of the show, often used during the fight scenes. I actually liked the use of sound in the fight scenes. Although the intense music was another component of the over-dramatic action of the show, I felt that it was one of the few necessary ones. There obviously needed to be some sound to fill this time, and it would have been odd for it to be something other than the intense mood that was clearly trying to be created. Besides…

Upon taking our seats we realized just how good they were not to close but not too far away. We took our seats about 7:15 in the FAQ’s on the Alliance theaters website it says to be there 15 minutes before show time it specifically states that if you are late they will seat you in special seating for late comers then you will be moved after intermission to your specific seats. Well the show was supposed to start at 7:30 and at 7:40 they were still seating people which I thought should not have happened that way. The show started at approximately 7:50 which was about 20 minutes late. Most people didn’t seem to mind except for the people like me who brought kids with them you could tell they were a little aggravated as the kids were sitting there for about half an hour doing…

On November 29th, 2016 I attended a symphonic band concert at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. The performers in this symphonic band were full of students who are enrolled at UNCG. At this concert there were plenty of instruments being played such as; flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium, tuba, double bass, piano, and percussion. In this specific concert there happen to be no soloist, the performers performed each piece of music together. The performance was done in one of the university auditorium and the area appropriate for the performance.…

Once everyone was settled, Mr. Scott took the stage once again and narrated the story(content) of their next performance. This time around, his story was quite boring that I almost fell asleep, but as soon as they began to play, it was like heaven on earth. I came back to life and it made more sense listening to them play than just hearing the story. It was as if each time they played a different piece, it outshines the previous one, and they added more instruments every time. I was unable to positively identify the added instruments, but at this point, I didn’t care much about the instruments. I was more interested in what I was hearing and not what was producing the…

The concert took two stages. The costumes of singers were different from each other. While someone singing the others were waiting on the right side of the stage. That made me confused because it seems like a choir but only one singing. We listened compilation of different songs that taken from different operas. Listening different stories from different talents was an outstanding experience. It was hard to believe that only a piano companied the singers because of the deepness of the sound. When I close my eyes it sound me like a little orchestra. Most of the singers were soprano; there were few tenor and baritone. Especially Nancy Freer amazed me so much. She singed one of my favorite one Vissi d'arte which is compesed by Giacomo Puccini. Whenever I listen it I feel flame. Also she singed Villanelle from Les Nuits d’ete, composed by Hector Berlioz. The most impressive thing about her voice was, it totally filled my ears and pleasure. Nancy was more experienced than the others although she is only 31. The other singers were younger than Nancy. I am not sure but maybe some of them would be student at collage. Before the end of the first stage a face that I am familiar with took the scene. He was T.J Schuhle, bass-baritone. I know him from the opera, “The Medium” He seems really interesting to me because his…

The stage of the concert was very basic. There were no huge props on stage or anything that drew the attention of the audience. The concert was a relatively small event and it had a relatively low budget so it’s understandable to see the lack of setting. However, the basic small stage actually fit the atmosphere of the evening rather well. It was a somewhat small crowd and in a small building so a large, gaudy stage would seem out of place.…

According to Perry, the aim of a liberal education is for one to gain the knowledge and skills necessary to make informed and reasonable decisions. Any other consequences should be treated as merely incidental. He explains that the first means to this end is through the simple gaining of knowledge by memorization of certain key facts, such as the periodic table. This is often necessary, and should not be avoided, but too often it is seen as synonymous with learning. In his essay, ``Examsmanship and the Liberal Arts: A Study in Educational Epistemology,'' William G. Perry, Jr. uses the term ``cow'' to describe ``writing on the assumption that `a fact is a fact.' ... presenting evidence of hard work as a substitute for understanding...'' while using the somewhat more traditional term ``bull'' to mean deception as to the presence of actual data. I definitely agree with Perry’s opinion on what education should foster, the purpose of education is to enable students to learn for themselves, not to spoon-feed them every fact they will ever need in their lives. Current day teachers have a huge influence on how education is nurtured.…

I was absorbed with all that, when suddenly the professional musicians entered the stage. There seemed to be a dressed code, as everyone was in black tie or formal dresses. They sit in their own seats, and started tuning their musical instruments. Moreover musicians warmed up their muscles and focused their concentration before the actual performance. After a while, there was silence, the conductor came, the performers got up and the audience applauded, so the music began.…
