LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANs english TUNAY TO
“LIVING WITHIN YOUR MEANS” Living within your means have a lot of meaning; it can be getting something that other people have like money, expensive cars and big houses. It can be not overspending money but for me “living within your means” means to live in a way that we can afford or live within the amounts we have or knowing the certainty on what we are going to get. As what Robert Brault said “everything we possess that is not necessary for life or happiness becomes a burden and scarcely a day passes that we do not add to it.”And as a teenager, it is often hard because we tend to live in the moment and buy based on our emotional impulses and personal preference. But there are many things that we can do to help our self to live within our means or become thrifty like budgeting wisely our money and not wasting it in useless things. We can also track our expenses to know if our money is waste in good things or in useless things. And lastly we have to differentiate the difference between what we want, and what we really need; we must know what is absolutely necessary so that we can prioritize our purchase decision. Now the question is, how can we live a meaningful and simple life? If there are technologies that really affect every single thing we done. When I was reminiscing my past childhood days, the time when I don’t care about everything, what I care is to play. Mr. Bean, Doraemon and knockout those are cartoons that always make me smile whenever I feel bored. A simply five peso coin from the drinks of my grandpa, can make me happy and feel like a rich man. My childhood life is really different from the childhood life of today’s generation. I live in a very simple, contented and not so complicated life, so that it makes my childhood life very memorable for me. Those are the factors that I can’t see to today’s generation. They just depend on the high-tech gadgets, without thinking about the consequences. And also they missed to experience how to live in simple but happy life. As what I had said, living within your means is living with just a simple life and being contented on what you have. Being wise, but considering what is the most important and made it not only for yourself but also for the sake of others. It also about knowing your priorities that can help you to set your goal in order to live a good life. Dean Koontz says that “stays low, stay quiet, keep it simple, don't expect too much, and enjoy what you have.” The simpler you live the happier you will get. So, keep in mind that even though we live at the modern world, we still have to be simple and just live within your means not on the influence of technology or on colonial mentality of others.

Writing notes and remembering information for the next day is long forgotten. Reading encyclopedias and using books for research papers seems nonexistent. In other words, a close, well-knit family was valued. With the expansion of scientific knowledge, comes less family time. The average parent spends three and a half minutes a week having meaningful conversations with their children, according to a survey reported by the A.C. Nielson Company. These statistics are not just simple numbers; they are a reflection of where our technological society is heading. Parents seem to encourage their children to use the technology around them because it keeps the kids entertained. However, they don’t realize how much they are negatively affecting their child’s intellect and health. Even parents that don’t applaud the use of technology have a difficult time relating their children. Kids have a superior understanding of what’s happening in the world when it comes to technology, but adults are slowly gaining an understanding of things such as texting and Facebook. On average, a six year old child is better at games like “Angry Birds” in comparison tot their grandparents. The difference is what is considered “ordinary” in the time a person is raised. This generation difference creates a gap between children and their parents and results in a weak family relationship, which is related to our technological…

Think of the days when there were no computers or televisions, when all modern technology didn’t exist; society and life was utterly different. People depended on themselves and used all their common knowledge; people lived a simple, but efficient life. Not all technologies or innovations have had a positive impact on us. Managing your spending, the money that goes out of your accounts each month, is a crucial first step in controlling your financial situation. If you're in debt or not meeting your financial goals you can either cut your spending, boost your income or do both to find the extra money you need to improve. I believe that cutting spending is the most important step you can take to improve your financial situation because if you cannot control your spending it doesn't matter how much your investments return, how high your income goes, or if you have the best insurance, you will still be living basically paycheck to paycheck each month or going into debt. Realistically, there is no level of income you can achieve that an out of control desire to buy cannot spend.…

The short, informative essay “Could You Live With Less” by Stephanie Mills describes a simple life that is comfortable. “There's electric lighting, indoor plumbing, a tankless water heater, a second hand refrigerator and range- but no microwave oven, no dishwasher, no blow dryer, no cordless phone” (1). Mills feels as though technology has redefined what it means to live. She wrote,“Technology should abet my life, not dominate or redefine it” (1). Mills wants readers to see another option of living. She tells her admirable point of view in a way that informs people that technology does not satisfy emotional needs. Stephany avoids technology because she believes that…
