However, to decide if this advancement is for better or for worse, we should balance its benefits and drawbacks. First of all, an increase of life span brings happiness within the family. Everyone of us must have, or will, endure the pain of losing a close relative. For example, I grew up with my paternal grandparents, and I still remember how much I cried when they died. Apart from that, grandparents can take care of their grandchildren when their sons and daughters are busy working, and being able to see to see the grandchildren grow will bring enormous satisfaction.
While improvements on life expectancy are undoubtedly a big achievement of mankind, it has its disadvantages as well. A decline in numbers of death means a larger population. This will lead to a shortage of resources such as food and water. In addition to this, an aging population will lead to bigger pressure for the government to care for the aged and a greater tax burden for the working class. For instance, more money would be needed for pensions and higher investments in medical care. Moreover, older people have to be taken care of, which would be a great burden for families.
Overall, I believe that the advantages of a long life span outweigh its disadvantages. Despite being a burden to many, the benefits to society from an older generation are countless. Older people are rich in knowledge and experience and we can learn much from them. They are rich in knowledge and experience and we can learn a lot from them. We should joint efforts in finding solutions to our concerns and make life the best and happiest it can possibly be.
