There are many differences between residing in a condo compared to residing in a house. To most people the differences seem to be relatively simple and obvious, while others may be quite surprised to learn just how many there really are. However, condos and houses also have some basic things in common. Whether it is a condo or a house, both of them have a wide range of advantages and disadvantages. Which option to choose when purchasing a home is much more complicated than one might think it would be!
The first housing option to consider is a condo. One of the advantages of living in a condo is that there is no yard work for the owner to complete. As the owner of a condo, there is no grass to cut, no weeds to pull, and no flowers to plant or water. In the winter there is no need to get up early to shovel snow from the side walk or driveway; it is already taken care of. There is also no outside building maintenance or repairs for the owner to have to do. One of the most significant advantages to living in a condo is all of the amenities that condo complexes offer. These amenities include, but are not limited to, a swimming pool, hot tub, tennis court, playground for kids, and a club house with many more activities. Along with all of the other advantages, the utility costs are typically less expensive than traditional houses. Utilities are lower due to the fact that all of the units insulate each other, and because water, sewer, and trash are included with your association fee. While there are many advantages of living in a condo, there are also some major disadvantages. One of the major disadvantages of owning a condo is, property is not included in the purchase, as the owner only owns the unit.
