Living in an Apartment
Since I have lived on my own, I have stayed in many different homes. I have lived in houses, as well as apartments. Living in an apartment complex has its ups and downs; however, there are quite a few disadvantages that can be involved. A few of the disadvantages of living in an apartment is noise, space, unfriendly neighbors, and the smell.
One of the disadvantages is noise. There are times that noise and music from other tenants has interrupted me. Music blasting from nearby apartments can be an issue when I am anticipating quiet time. In an apartment, the sounds that one may hear can be startling. Many times I have though I heard someone in my home, which turned out to be my neighbors upstairs or next door.
Space is another disadvantage. Most apartments are not spacious; requiring good organizational skills or arranging additional storage. I have had to resort to both. I have also had to cram much needed possessions in a tiny space.
Also, unfriendly neighbors and guests contribute to the disadvantages of living in an apartment. Neighbors and their guests’ attitudes can either create a pleasant living environment or a negative environment. It is always best to communicate and cooperate with one another, if possible. This may reduce any drama that may occur between tenants.
The last disadvantage of apartment living is the smell. The smell and aroma of other tenants and their homes can leak into the stairwell of the apartment building; as well as through the vents in each unit. At times, the smell can be overwhelming and I am forced to light a candle to help eliminate the smell. While other times I have just dealt with the situation at hand.
Having a place to call my own is a freedom I will always cherish; although, there are disadvantages associated with apartment living. I have had to deal with neighbors being unfriendly and ignorant, tight spaces, unbearable aromas, and noisy neighbors. These are the many disadvantages of living in an apartment.
