Living History Project
Throughout the entire school year, I have worked on my Living History project. I have enjoyed most of the project, but some of it was a little stressful. I received the opportunity to discover more about my participant’s life. Although I already knew some of my participants past, I was able to learn more about her struggles, successes and good times. The living history project was a great experience for me. I was able to learn more about what happened earlier in my mom’s life. The participant I chose was my mom, Heather Moody. I chose her for this project because she is caring and hard-working. I also chose her because I wanted to discover more about her life. As a child, Heather grew up on the farm. In

I most enjoyed learning about the way that patients were treated in hospitals during the 1950s, and the differences in treatment of people of different races. They did not ask their patients if they would like to donate their cells, which is what caused Henrietta's cells to be taken. Also, although I was already aware that the treatment of mentally ill people was terrible in the 1950s, but I was disgusted that Henrietta's daughter was actually diagnosed with "idiocy."…

Jesus was born to Mary and Joseph sometime in the fourth century according to the gospel of Matthew. The exact date is not sure because there were no records kept at that time. It was told that Mary had conceived a child before she was married to Joseph. In that time, it was taboo to have a child before marriage. When Joseph found out about this, he was going to call off the wedding. That night an angel appeared to him in a dream and told him that Mary was a virgin. Mary had conceived through an immaculate conception by the Holy Spirit. The Angel said that Mary would have a male child, and he should call him Jesus.…

“Every empire tells itself and the world that it is unlike all other empires and that its mission is not to plunder and control but to educate and liberate” is a quote by Edward W. Said. During the 19th century, Western nations started expansion into territorial imperialism to collect resources from colonies to benefit economically, politically, and socially. Jules Ferry, a former French prime minister, created a colonial policy to colonize territories for France’s benefits and to civilize the people in those territories. His biased views may affect the historical impact and people should not believe everything they hear. One should analyze a document and take past knowledge on the issue into consideration before making any decisions.…

I learned two new interesting things about my family history while doing this project. One thing I learned about my family 's history is that my grandpa fought in World War II. He was in the Air Force. He was actually in France for a little while during the war. After he served his 4 years he went back to the Air Force and taught rookie pilots what to do in an air warfare situation. The other new thing I learned about my family history is that my step-grandma 's daughter, Katie, was a really good high school softball player. Her team won state once and the following year they placed 2nd in nationals. She played 1st base. She would 've played in college but she tore her rotator cuff so she couldn 't play anymore. That is what interesting things I learned about my family history while doing this project.…

In today’s society, it’s extremely rare that we have a person in our lives that exemplifies greatness, perseverance, and strength. Fortunately, I have a person in my life that personifies all these traits, having a huge positive impact on my life. That person would be my cousin Courtney Watson. I can remember as a young child, Courtney was always focused on academics and athletics. I used to go with my grandfather and other family members to go watch her play basketball in high school. Having a very large family, we were all very supportive of one another, attending all recitals, games, and academic ceremonies, so she was sure to have her own cheering section whenever she played.…
