Literature in high school Reading books have a big impact on the different culture and schools from around the world. Books that include “The Odyssey” may have an impact on people who believe in mythology and it may not. It just depends on the people who read them. But when it comes to schoolbooks, some people believe that all the books and texts should be the same so it will save money. But I believe that schools should have different books because we, as students, will be able to read different genres of books and read books from different authors. And also because they should be able to let kids read their own books. There would be a better range of selection of books to choose from, and, if I was a teacher, I would want to not read the same book over and over and over again. When a teacher gives students the book like “Romeo and Juliet” to read for homework they will have a better chance of asking a friend on what they read and won’t do their own work. But when they have a different book than the other kids in the class they are forced to read the book and not cheat. In source F, it says “The canon also appropriate to a centralized educational system, in which everyone studied the same subjects and the same texts” which I believe they shouldn’t because the fact that schools spend lots of money on new technology why not spend more on literature to help a students education. Reading different books will help a student learn new vocabulary and will help their education in the future. Like in the other essay I wrote, I said that the public schools are being conformist because they will always follow the same pattern over and over. But if the teachers let the students read what they want to read they will have a better chance of succeeding. In source B, If the teachers kept on assigning the same books for there high school teacher career, they would probably think that the student might get tired of reading those books while other teachers let them read what ever they like. The different book in source B has many different books that were written by all different authors. This shows how many type of genres there are in this literature world. And last but not least we have kids who want to read the books they want and not what the teachers and schools make them read. Like me, in 10th grade we had to read Romeo and Juliet. I didn’t want to read that, but I had to. If I had the choice to read that or my basketball autobiography book, I would not choose Romeo and Juliet. In source D, it shows a picture of a book called World Masterpieces. If this were true student would have to read this book and I assure you this book doesn’t look interesting. But yet again it all depends on who likes the taste of these books. I know for a fact many people would look at this and say no to this book because of the picture. But don’t judge a book by its cover. So if teachers and the schools just let the kids read their own books they would be satisfied with an action book than a romance. In conclusion, having books the same would get boring for the teachers and the students. But when you have the kids bring their own books the world changes from night to day. And if the United States is not a defined national school curriculum nation, then so be it. The students should have the freedom to read any book that their hearts desire.

    Censorship of books does not have any beneficial qualities. Many parents support censorship in schools to regulate what books their children have access to. What they do not understand is that not all parents believe in their specific views.     A great divide among the human race is our differing views of the world and our opinions. This divide has spanned from the B.C. till now in the 21st century.
