I felt personally impacted by Isay’s Ted Talk because I have also gone through the difficult journey of acceptance of a loved one’s differences. As a member of the LGBT community, the Stonewall riots are a particularly interesting historical event for myself and the rest of my community. The fact that Isay was able to draw inspiration from the Stonewall riots is very inspirational to me. I absolutely adore the idea of Story Corps because I believe that it has to power to unite people who would otherwise not be informed about a perspective, other than their own. I suddenly realized that no one could ever find out. Rushing to my car I flung the door open and got inside. Racing home I felt the nerves stream through my body. Inside the house I gradually walked to my bedroom and stepped inside. Creeping over to the loose floorboard I felt the sweat drip from my palm. “Sometimes quiet is violent,” those words ring into the teeming stadium as thousands of zealous fans sing along. One of those fans happen to be myself, standing in the middle of the pit of people. Two shadowy silhouettes exist on stage; one on the piano and the other on the drums. Then suddenly the lights flash revealing an immense sign labeled Twenty One Pilots. Tyler Joseph on the piano, and Josh Dunn on the drums. Tyler only concentrates on the piano, barely letting the singing crowd impede his focus. Josh is coated in a thick layer of sweat, as he gently strikes the cymbals, just enough to give an ominous feel. As the middle of their song, “Car Radio” approaches, Josh asks Tyler to sit in a chair. Written by Dave Pelzer, the story reveals an extreme case of child abuse, one of the worst ever report in California history. A Child Called “It” tells the unbearable story of a boy who gets beaten day after day by his alcoholic mother. This story is an autobiography communicating very informative information of the severity of child abuse and how important school officials are in spotting this epidemic. As a teenager living in an ever-changing society, a journey is bound to happen either emotionally, physically or mentally. At any point in a persons lifetime, one may go through a journey- whether that journey takes place at a certain time or place, stemmed from a decision or the journey of ones existing lifetime. No matter what or whom, journeys are bound to change us and are inevitable. They offer us development and growth as individuals as well as altering the way we think, act or talk. This can be obtained through overcoming obstacles, achieving goals, anything really that ee encounter during a journey.We often register change as something dangerous, yet we still try our futile attempts at resisting change but at the end of it all, you yourself as a human being would have changed in either a positive or negative way. Bruce Dawe's poems, "drifters" and "migrants" emphasis on the emotional aspect of physical journeys where it is tied to the attitudes towards journey (s), the compassion in the journey, overcoming obstacles and fulfilling the desire of destination. My life sounds like a lot of things, the sound of my kitten making strange noises because she doesn’t meow, the sound of my brothers chasing each other up the stairs, and the sound of my entire family having dinner at my house for a special occasion. But, those aren’t the only sounds. I have grown up in a household where music has always existed. In every car ride there was always music. That's what I remember most about my childhood, is the music that we listened too.
