1.1.10 Marketed Preparations of the Liquisolid Technique:

There are some of products available in the market relied on the research activity of the liquisolid systems technology as listed in table (4). Popularity of liquisolid technique on commercial scale is due to increased bioavailability by an increased aqueous solubility of the drug, increasing the surface area of drug available for release and improved wettability of the drug particles.

For most drugs used to produce systemic effect, the oral route still considers the preferred route of administration, because of its several advantages and good patient compliance compared to other routes(40). Hard gelatin capsules and Tablets make up a major portion of drug delivery systems that are now available. Nevertheless, many patient as the elderly, children and patients who are uncooperative, mentally retarded, nauseated or on reduced water-intake/diets have difficulties in swallowing these dosage forms, persons who are traveling or have little access to water are also affected. To perform these medical requirements, pharmaceutical technologists have developed a novel oral dosage form termed as “Oral Dispersible Tablets (ODTs) ” which disintegrate rapidly in mouth, usually withen matter of seconds, without needing of water. 2- Patients who concurrently receive anticholinergic drugs and patients with Sjögren's syndrome that characterized by dryness of the mouth due to decreased salivary production may not be best candidates for these formulations .
3-One major drawback of most currently marketed orodispersible tablets is their low hardness and high friability and this leads to insufficient mechanical strength.
4-ODTs are also hygroscopic in nature.
1.2.5 Ideal Characteristics of ODTs(50)

The ideal characteristics of ODTs for dissolution in the mouth and pregastric absorption includes:
1- These dosage forms not need for water for oral administration, where it disintegrate, disperse , and dissolve in the mouth withen seconds.
2-Have a pleasant mouth feel.
3-Have an acceptable taste masking property.
4-Enough hardness to endure mechanical hazards.
5- ODTs left minimum or no residues in the mouth after disintegration.
6-Exhibit low sensitivity to environmental condition.
7- Conventional processing used in the formulation of such dosage form.
