Lindsay, As you mentioned in your post, all adults should be treated with respect. Even if older adults possess cognitive declines or deficits, nurses should still always treat this patients with respect and dignity. Older adults may experience declines in the swift ability to remember recent events, but remote memories are still highly preserved. Furthermore, although ageing does affect the speed in which cognitive and motor processes are preformed, the older adult still can successfully complete these activities, it may just take them longer (Tabloski, 2014).
