Like mother like daughter, that’s a phrase that’s used when the personality or behaviors of the mother are found to be similar to those of the daughter. A lot of people assume that one’s daughter is just like their mother, and a lot of the times that is true, in some aspects. In other aspects, mothers and daughters can be complete opposites. My mother and I are the perfect example of having similar behaviors but at the same time being completely opposite of each other.

Ever since I was a kid, I’ve been told I was the spitting image of my mother. Anyone could tell I was my mother’s daughter just by looking at me, and even when I talked, our whole family and also her close friends could hear my mother in my voice. As I’ve grown older, those traits have only grown stronger. Other than having the same physical features as my mother, I also take after her attitude. My mother’s attitude as a child and my mother’s attitude as an adult had grown worse through her years, and I unfortunately picked it up throughout my years of living as well. Although, developing the attitude I have, has made me stand up for myself and also always to speak what’s on my mind, and for that I thank my mother. Unfortunately with my mother and I being so much alike, it had only made us bump heads in the end. On the other hand, two people can only be so much alike. Although, my mother and I would seem to almost be the exact same person when looking on the outside, we are actually the complete opposite when it comes down to what matters. I believe as a mother what matters the most should always be your children, and they should always come first. My mother may have believed she put her children first, but she never actually did. Addiction and men were the two most important things in my mother’s life. Therefore, that became my life goal, was to be everything my mother wasn’t, which is why we’re not as much alike because I fought and continue to fight hard to make sure I don’t follow in her...
