Lightning Mcqueen Character Analysis
Although I may not be a living car, I find a character that I am easily able to relate to being Lightning McQueen from Disney Pixar's animated film, Cars. Besides my flashy smile and confident attitude, I don't share much else with McQueen from a first glance. I am not covered in a coat of red paint, I do not race cars on an international level, and I do not love saying "Ka-Chow" over and over. "What makes him connect to Lightning McQueen then?" you may ask. The most crucial part to Lightning's character is the reason I am able to sympathize with him; the fact that what he wants and what everyone expects from him contradict one another.

In the beginning of the first Cars movie, McQueen is originally a high-placing young racecar whose ability and prowess quickly goes to his head. McQueen feels like this is what he wants as he has not experienced anything else besides the rush the race provides him. As the story continues, however, McQueen quickly falls in love with the small town of Radiator Springs and the people he meets there and learns that what he wants, a calm life in the isolated town, will never be possible if he doesn't address what the rest of the world wants him to become, a famous racecar.

When I was younger, I was always competitive with others in academics. Whether it was reciting multiplication tables in first grade, reading the most books during the summer in second, or winning my districts spelling bee five years in a row, I always wanted to strive to be the best I could and surpass those around me. This helped when I got into junior high as I started to learn about GPAs and Class Rank. Knowing that this would be important to my future, I was bound and determined to strive for great grades in all of my coursework while still challenging myself

The concept of academic performance was present in both interviews. Yaswantie was motivated to get good grades because she had to act as a role model for her children. She didn’t want to get bad grades after telling her children that she expected them to get good grades in school. In contrast, Basmatie always aimed for an A when she was taking college courses. Despite the numerous responsibilities these women had, they were still determined to get good grades in the college courses that they were taking. Younger college students can learn about motivation from these two women. I have met college students in my age group that are unconcerned with their grades and they do not seem motivated to try their…

However the two styles of racing are very different. In Fast and Furious, the settings of the races are at gatherings, where street gangs battle over who has the fastest car, while trying to outwit the law. Fast and Furious focuses on the lifestyle of the street racers. The races are fuelled by adrenaline, sexual tension, vendettas, and raw, out-of-control speed. The crowds cheer, howl, and cajole each other while presiding over the hungry roar of engines, and NOS-injected muscle cars, all set to test the limits. The settings for Talladega Nights are multiple NASCAR racetracks such as the Texas Motor Speedway, the Charlotte Motor Speedway, and the Talladega 500. In the film Talladega Nights, the main character Ricky Bobby is out to reclaim his fame as NASCAR champion after a frightful race accident driving his #26 Wonder Bread car. Talladega Nights offers a look into the racetrack and home life style of a NASCAR…

No one really thinks about putting themselves in other people’s shoes. You’d be amazed at the difference between your life and Richie Parker’s life, which is not that much different, but he learned to do things a different way. ESPN tells the story of Richie Parker with a short seven-minute video, he also happens to be one of the most successful engineers in Hendrick Motorsports. The sole purpose of this video is about Parker’s success and accomplishments throughout his everyday life, which casually questions the audience, “how do you get through your day?” His story can serve as an example to ESPN viewers, Carolina natives, and others, in hope that he serves as an inspiration that anything is possible. ESPN captures the reality that most people don’t think about, the reality no one ever wishes to live, but with Parker’s pride and confidence, he only happens to prove everyone wrong.…

I think these two scenes are amazing. In the first scene Hogge (Duvall) is telling the car all of the things he is going to do to get it “race ready”. This scene shows how much Hogge cares about his job as a car builder, and crew chief. For me, this scene also shows how much Hogge respects the racecar, and what potential it has. This is not just a hobby or sport to Hogge; this is his way of life. In the second scene Hogge speaking to the car about the upcoming race with Trickle (Cruise), shows Hogge’s concern for Trickle. Concern that Hogge felt he could not express to Trickle with all that he was dealing with already. Talking to the car was Hogge’s outlet and made him feel a little more at ease after giving the car instructions on how to “handle” Trickle.…

One reason behind the success is how NASCAR is able to identify the changes that are needed to make in order to stay in top of business. When a college drop out, Brian France, took over as an CEO of NASCAR from his family, he had a vision of how 190 mph racing sport could potentially become a big money sports like football. Therefore, he started introducing changes. First, he borrowed the model that football and baseball were using and integrated into NASCAR. Strategic changes, such as, introducing different mix of new car brands (Toyota) into NASCAR along with bringing in drivers from F1 Racing and other minorities groups have further strengthened the brand of NASCAR and attracted fans from all over the world. Having different race teams, adding more tracks in different cities add additional flavors and grow the competitiveness of racing in tracks. Weaknesses of Brand…

When I received my class rank at the start of sophomore year, I told my father “11th is decent, but I can do better.” When junior year came, and I received the updated numbers, I felt the same way about being 4th, I could do better. Here I am, 3rd in the class, battling through my senior year, and still pushing myself to do better. Pushing *myself*. My determination to improve doesn't stem from my parents, my coaches, my teammates or anyone demanding me to, but rather because I know that I am capable.…

If there was ever a designer whose soul intention was to encompass the victim and the survivor in his creations, it would be McQueen. As his collection grew so did his need to empower woman, transforming the weak and incapable through his garments; he created a warrior, uncovered beauty when it wasn't visible to the untrained eye and romanticised what most would view as tragic. In doing so he managed to capture the attention of the fashion world as a whole, despite being misunderstood by many, he continued to create and stun viewers until his very last show. This review includes texts written by Evans (2004) Quinn (2002) and Harriman (2011)…
