At present, people tend to emphasis on fitness and most of people are willing to become longevity, life expectancy has become a hot topic, especially in developed countries.Oxford Dictionary(2008) explain that life expectancy is“the number of years that a person is likely to live; the length of time that something is likely to exist or continue for”.This essay will discuss the effects of active lifestyle ,sedentary life style, smoking lifestyle and diet style on life span in high-incomes countries. This essay will argue that active life style and a well informed decision of diets such as have a plenty of fruit and vegetables are the most important factors on prolong a people’s life span, while if people tend to adopt a smoking habit, their life expectancy is expected to shorter. Active lifestyle can improve people’s life expectancy,it is suggested that physical activity make it is possible for people to live longer.According to Sagiv (2012:8) when people keep rest, the average oxygen consumption is relatively low about 250mLoxygen/min,the figure for oxygen demanded increase to 25times than the rest demand when people take some aerobic exercises such as bicycling and swimming, this high demand prompt heart to beat faster and lungs to breath deeper ,as a consequence, the functions and muscles of heart and lungs have been strengthen, this is possible the reason why physical exercise can have a positive effect on people’s health and extend their life expectancy. In addition,Kress,(2011:22-28)explain that as heart beat faster which lead to the blood pumps faster ,the waste products in body are more likely to be removed, this process facilitate the metabolism.A fast metabolism is benefit for people’s digestion and prompt people’s organ to work more efficiently (Brook 2014),and encourage people to generate lauric acid, which play a vital role in maintaining human’s immune system (Matonis, 2011).people thus are more likely to get rid of some diseases such as virus flu which caused by low immunity, this will also lead to a longer life expectancy. For example ,According to Wade (2013.cited in Moore et al,2012)Steven Moore of US National Cancer Institute and his colleague launched a research in USA,they found that only 10 minutes physical exercise per day can extend people’s life expectancy around 2 years,Harvard school of public states that every one hours regularly physical exercise provide people with opportunities to live about two hours longer (Simmons,2013:5).In contrast,if people tend to adopt a sedentary lifestyle ,they are more likely to become obese which can lead to some diseases such as diabetes, these diseases can pose a threat to people’s life expectancy, for example ,at present, there are 70 % of adults overweight in the USA and 33 % are obese,in this decade about 7% people died because of obesity (Megdal 2009:4) . On the other hand ,smoking cause damage to people’s health, which lead to a shorter life expectancy.there is the nicotine in tobacco and it is a strong toxin which can improve your risk of failing into high blood pressure and heart diseases and has been verified by World Hleath Organization(WHO)(Hausein and Groneberg,2009:18),more over, nicotine is a addictive substance, once people start smoking,it is quiet difficult for them to drop it,despite the fact that, many of them are likely to understand the dire consequences of smoking.this is possible the reason why tobacco take the leading position of “dependence-producing substance”(ibid)which cause death,in USA and many European countries.and WHO states that tobacco are responsible for 9% of death in the...
