Life During The Italian Renaissance
During the Renaissance in Italy, many architectural, artistic, and scientific advances were made. One of the main studies/ideas during the Renaissance was Humanism. Humanism is the study and importance of the human being. Scientists such as Galileo, Copernicus, and Vesalius were all born during Renaissance in Italy, and their ideas are still relevant in our lives today. William Shakespeare is one of the most well known writers in history, and he was born during the Italian Renaissance. Life during Renaissance Italy is similar and different to our life today. One example of a technological advance is the telescope. The telescope help us see other planets. Also during the Renaissance, Johannes Gutenberg invented the printing press which helped make more copies of books, poems, and bibles faster, which helped them make money.
During the Renaissance, you were born into a social classes. Above everyone else is the Pope/Church. At the top of the social class were the monarchs and then nobles. Towards the middle were the knights, vassals, merchants, farmers, and craftsmen. At the the was bottom of the social class are the peasants and serfs. You could not change what social class you are in.
Dancing during the Renaissance was also different from dancing today. According to the book, Patrick D. Netzley, they danced in groups called “Guilds” and it was very hard to get into a Guild. Most Guilds are categorized by profession. Some guilds are of all doctors, teachers, architects, artists, etc. The Guild leaders have rules about who can get into the group. For example, you might now be able to join the group if you cannot read.
