I
Chapter I Introduction
Nowadays, in a highly technological society, human productivity is made more efficient through the development of electronic gadgets. Now, with the advent of such modernization in education, one way to globalize the process of research is to realize that technology is advancing at an incredible fast pace. Computers are not confined to being used for entertainment but its role in education is also vast.
Computers are becoming in our life and one cannot image life without computers in today’s world. If you go to a library or any establishment computers are all in places .We can say that this kind of innovation assist each one of us and uses to experience a well-situated life. Thus, we students also need to use different gadgets, devices or modern technologies in order to have an easy gong life at school. A manual system present in a school library will not give us a quick finding a books or even determine its availability.
Library provides a lot of information for us by its available books used for information gathering, or even in different purpose .The existing library system used by San Isidro National High School is manually operated. This is a big deal. This could be minimized with the presence of the computers which could facilitate the in the library faster.

A computerized system enhanced our lifestyle; the society has made a very real commitment to computer, an electronic device design to manipulate and used to store data and information. We must admit that companies and people in the business world have reached the point of no return in its dependence on computer. Most of the companies are experiencing problems in their manual system that’s why most of them are engaging with computerized system to eliminate problems in transactions.
Some of the library systems are still operated manually. Many people are involve in the process of managing the library, in a such way of keeping records regarding the books, categorizing and registration for borrowers, all these things have to be carried out manually. If the library has large amount of books, and many borrowers are using the library, handling and managing is also a problem.

Background of the Study
Through the initiative of the Antipolo City Government headed by Mayor. Angelito C . Gatlabayan and endorsed by Ms. Melinda D. Gedang, who was then the principal of Antipolo National High school, as per Resolution No. 41-A-99, a resolution approving the opening of San Isidro National High School in Antipolo city in time for the start of the school year 1999-2000 and for other purposes, San Isidro National High School formally stated its operation.
San Isidro National High School ‘s existing system in recording, keeping students and books records are done manually. The Librarian compile the students index cards in one box and arrange it alphabetically that sometimes lead in error . Based on what we have observed in their manual procedure its waste of time. Both librarian and students need to fill out new index cards thus, we decided to make a computerized library system for maintaining and retrieving students and books records in a more organized, easy and convenient way.
The library system’s main purpose is to help the librarian to maintain library transactions so that nothing will affect the smooth flow of it. One way is converting manual system into a computerized system and San Isidro National High School still makes use of manual library system. The main purpose of library is to provide conductive learning tool and place for the students and other clients in order to attain good and high quality education.

The library is open 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and all, As long as you present an ID just for identification for a registration. The books are well arranged and open shelves. It consist more o r less 3,000 books in the different volume. Some books
came from the project of students. The library also has board games like chess and scrabble .They are using manual system in systemizing books for services. About the registration they are using manual system by using a record book for information to be sign by the borrowers.

Statement of the Problem
General Problem The existing library system are done manually by the librarian and borrowers in borrowing, retrieving of books and monthly reports. With its kind of system, the transaction In the library takes time and sometimes records are misplaced by the librarian because the system is efficient way of finding, borrowing and retrieving of books.
Specific Problem 1. The manual process is time consuming.
2. It is hard to recognize and to find the files of the Student.
3. The library system of the school has unorganized procedure of transaction and they cannot monitor properly the borrowing and returning of books.

Objective of the Study
General We aim to develop a library system that will cover the transaction in San Isidro National High School that will develop and upgrade the existing way of library system of their school .
Specific 1 Computerized library system help to save more time and effort in searching, borrowing and returning books.
2 To categorize the books they have and provide labels on the books so that it will be easier to find and locate a book.
3 To organize the procedure of transaction and to monitor properly the borrowing and returning of books.

Significance of the Study
Educational The Library System is the study that will make the operation of San Isidro National High School Library faster and accurately. In this study we develop our programming skills. This will also set as a reference material for future researchers who will take up computer courses. This can be use as a guide to us, students, in making a computerized library system in other school if they want to improve their manual procedures.
Technological The purpose of the study of this research is to innovate the library system of San Isidro National High School in terms of system security, efficiency and accuracy. This research will help the librarian to lessen their work. And because of these different technology created now more system are now done without too much effort instead we use devices that are convenient to do a specific task.
Economical Through this study, the San Isidro National high Library transaction will easier and faster. The lesser the time of transaction means more transaction to be made. A computerized library system can be a little help to lessen the expense in the library.

Scope and Delimitation
Scope The main concern of this study was focused on the system they are using, in categorizing books, and the registration of borrowers and how they record the list of borrowers and books.
The log in feature will help to avoid unauthorized person to access the system. Proposed system will serve as a file management system that monitoring the books availability. Compute the penalty of overdue books and print reports of all transaction in the library.
Delimitation
The study does not cover the payroll and the enrollment system of the school. Only librarian is allowed to add user. For the registration, input of information to data base is only done by authorized personnel or else authorized personnel will authorize borrowers to use the system for registration.

Visual Basic.2008 is an object oriented computer programming language that can be viewed as an evolution of the classic Visual Basic 2008 which is implementation the .NET framework.
Microsoft Office Access previously known as Microsoft Access. Is a relational database management system from Microsoft that combines the relational Microsoft Jet Database Engine with graphical user interface and software development tools.
Password- a secret word or string of characters that is used for authentication, to prove identity or gain access to resource.
Log-in – She/he process by which individual access to a computer system.
Query- information retrieval from the database.

Foreign Studies
Russian March, 1995 A system of library networks has been formed in the country, though not in the telecommunication but in the organizational and functional sense. Every network has its own leading library (or libraries). As a rule, these are large scientific libraries with impressive collections and well-developed computerized systems. The Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology, for instance, is the leading library for a network of scientific and technological libraries of the country, the State Russian Library (the former Lenin Library) and the Russian National Library are both the leading ones for the Ministry of Culture libraries, the State Central Scientific Medical Library is the leading one for a network of medical libraries, etc. Interlibrary cooperation has always been in force incorporating ILL services, acquisition coordination, joint updating of the Union Catalog, and information retrieval on query. However, it has been based on traditional technologies. Introduction of the RELCOM e-mail network, a home analog of INTERNET, has drastically changed the situation, though leaving unsolved the tasks of interactive access to electronic catalogs, to the Union Catalog and the National Bibliography System, a query - response mode, and other real-time modes. That is why, a creation of the first Russian computerized library network has become the order of the day. Thus, a project of the State Federal Library Network was included by the State Council for Informatization into the Informatization Concept of Russia. After that, an interbranch commission was set up in 1992 under the aegis of the Russian Ministry of Culture to develop and introduce a project of a computerized library information network. 11 A usability study of online library systems: A case of Sultanah Bahiyah Library, University Utara Malaysia. The purpose of this study was to investigate usability of online library systems in University Utara Malaysia (UUM). This study evaluated the usability of Sultanah Bahiyah Library’s web based systems by investigating the aspects of simplicity, comfort, user friendliness, control, readability, information adequacy/task match, navigability, recognition, access time, relevancy, consistency and visual presentation. This study examined user’s views about the usability of digital libraries whereas current and perceived importance. A sample of 45 students of Master of Business Administration (MBA) has been chosen. The Sultanah Bahiyah Library’s web based systems is very important especially for students and academic staffs of University Utara Malaysia. The usability of the Library’s web based systems makes students easy to connect and for that the website should be helpful and attractive within good contents. The result found that the parallel nature of the users’ current views about the usability of digital libraries and users’ perceived importance of digital library usability allows direct comparison of all usability properties. The overall results yielded significant difference for the variables of user’s current views and perceived importance.
This study was initiated by the Newfoundland Public Library Services (NPLS) to assess the feasibility of automation for the library services and to determine the viability of an integrated automated library system for the NPLS. The study addresses the needs of NPLS in terms of library automation; benefits to be achieved through the introduction of automation; automation requirements and costs; cost of automating in relation to potential cost savings; staffing requirements for automation; and a recommended approach to automation. The report focuses on the following areas: (1) needs analysis (headquarters, technical services department, provincial reference and resource library, St. John's City (Newfoundland, Canada) libraries, regional libraries, books-by-mail);

(2) functional requirements for the application software; (3) system options (technical requirements, software options, microcomputer equipment, estimated costs); (4) database creation and management (existing machine-readable records, options for catalogue maintenance with the integrated library systems, issues affecting the decision, estimated costs); (5) management of an automated library system (staffing, training, estimated costs); (6) the costs and benefits of library automation (quality of service to NPLS clientele, networking, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of library routines, management information, cost-benefit analysis); and (7) a system development strategy and implementation plan. Conclusions and recommendations are provided in addition to tables and appendices related to the topical issues addressed in this report. (MAB).
Local Studies
The De La Salle University Library offers academic library resources and services to support the institution’s instructional, curricular, research, and extension programs. It strives to provide an adequate and stimulating learning environment through organized, relevant and fast delivery of information services and excellent facilities. It is housed in a fully-air conditioned four story building strategically accessible to faculty and students. It has a floor area of 6,800 square meters to accommodate its collection and provide reading areas, workstations, listening and viewing rooms, administrative offices, function rooms, a faculty area, several Internet access areas, including the newly-opened café @ the library . The library has a collection of approximately 320,000 books with almost 10,000 volumes on deposit and close to 30,000 volumes of graduate and undergraduate theses and dissertations. Periodical subscriptions are either in print or electronic format. Access to online database subscriptions covering full-text journal articles on various subjects is provided both in and off-campus..

Ateneo De Manila Its primary purpose is to support and enhance the educational and research endeavors of the three schools it serves by acquiring all forms of recorded information in selected fields pertinent to the goals and objectives of the university and to make them available to members of the Professional Schools' community engaged in teaching, research and study and in the pursuit of knowledge in general. The Library also recognizes its obligation to support the intellectual effort of groups of scholars, students and others outside the immediate university context in view of its unique capabilities nationally and internationally in areas of particular strength.
The PUP University Library System shared a nomadic history with the University. Like the University, it had no home of its own until after the Second World War. In 1933, it was sharing a space with the Philippine Normal School. In 1947, Congress allotted the amount of PhP 120,000.00 for the construction of the Philippine School of Commerce library and social hall buildings. PSC President Luis F. Reyes acted as Administrator of Libraries. The library had an initial collection of twelve (12) volumes. As the library collection started to grow during the period 1952-1961, Ms. Dolores A. Teotico acted as Library Administrator. She was appointed Supervising Librarian in 1962. During this period, the library adopted an open-shelf system. Room I of the Library Annex in Lepanto, Sampaloc was converted as reading room for male students and an additional librarian was assigned at the High School reading room. During the school year, 1964-1965, more books were acquired through purchase and donation. The Library Board was created to act as policy determining body relating to the library system. The previous policy of suspending the lending of books during the examination period was lifted.

Foreign Literature Libraries have established voluntary associations, often on a regional basis, to provide an online union catalog of all the items held by all member libraries. Whenever a library adds a new title to its catalog, a copy of the record is also added to the union list. This allows librarians to quickly determine which other libraries hold an item. Software then facilitates the request and supply tasks. In the U.S., Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) is used by public and academic libraries. Formerly, another network RLIN (Research Libraries Information Network) was used primarily by academic libraries but merged with OCLC on October 1, 2007. Australia and New Zealand use Libraries Australia and New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue respectively, the national bibliographic networks of those countries.
Online requests are usually submitted via OCLC's World Cat or First Search in the United States. Libraries without access to either can participate in interlibrary loan by submitting requests by postal mail, fax, email, or telephone. These are referred to as manual requests. Manual requests can be submitted in the United States by using an ALA (American Library Association) Interlibrary Loan Form.
Some libraries establish reciprocal arrangements with each other to supply loans and copies for free. Examples of such arrangements in the United States include Libraries Very Interested in Sharing (LVIS), Amigos, Mid-America Association of Law Libraries (MAALL), Bibliographical Center for Research, and the Greater Western Library Alliance (formerly the Big 12 Plus Library Consortium). Sometimes these arrangements include other services such as the Trans-Amigos Express (TAE) courier services which will ship and deliver items to Amigos members on the TAE route. SINGAPORE
The National Library Board (NLB), which manages Singapore's 40 public libraries, has beefed up its IT infrastructure with new Web-enabled terminals to provide enhanced security features and easy management.
The deployment encompasses new "borrowing" kiosks which sport built-in cameras that capture the faces of library users while they check out their loans. Installed at six library branches since last December, the kiosk will enable library officials to resolve disputes based on images it captures, explained Kuan Sung, NLB's infocomm operations manager.
"Some patrons might claim that they did not borrow certain books, so the images will help to verify if it's true. So, on top of the transaction records, we also have visual records of who borrowed what," Kuan said.
"Without visual records, in the past, library staff took more than a week to search through borrowing records to resolve such disputes. And that (length of time) could lead to complaints from the public," he added.
The board's 10 million library items--ranging from books and magazines to music CDs and DVDs--have all been tagged with RFID (radio frequency identification) chips that contain information such as book titles and call numbers.
Presently, to borrow any library items, users just need to slot in their identity or membership cards at a borrowing kiosk and place the item on a designated area. The kiosk's RFID reader retrieves--via radio waves--the information embedded in the tag of each library item and completes the loan process.
"If someone uses a membership card to fraudulently borrow library items, we can retrieve the image (captured at the kiosk) and give it to the police (for use in their)

investigation," said Wong Tack Wai, NLB's senior manager for library management and operations.
Kuan noted that to address privacy concerns that the board's 2 million members may have, the images are also encrypted and watermarked to ensure that they do not fall into the wrong hands.
The Web-enabled kiosks also mean that NLB's network administrators can easily retrieve the visual records, and perform regular maintenance through a Web browser interface.
"In the past, administrators needed to install client software on their machines to manage the kiosks," Kuan said, adding that the administrator only needs to go to a URL to manage the kiosks.
The new systems are part of the S$10 million (US$6 million) tender to beef up the board's RFID-based borrowing infrastructure. This project was awarded to Wavex Technologies, a Singapore-based RFID technology provider last October. Other initiatives in the pipeline include recommending books to members based on borrowing patterns, as well as providing the exact location of an item within the library premises at enquiry stations.
The Evergreen Project develops an open source ILS (integrated library system) used by approximately 800 libraries. The software, also called Evergreen, is used by libraries to provide their public catalog interface as well as to manage back-of-house operations such as circulation (checkouts and check ins), acquisition of library materials, and (particularly in the case of Evergreen) sharing resources among groups of libraries.

The Evergreen Project was initiated by the Georgia Public Library System in 2006 to serve their need for a scalable catalog shared by (as of now) approximately 250 public libraries in the state of Georgia. After Evergreen was released, it has since been adopted by a number of library consortia in the US and Canada as well as various individual libraries, and has started being adopted by libraries outside of North America.
The Evergreen development community is relatively small, with about nine active committers and roughly 50 individuals who have contributed patches (as of March 10th, 2011). However, the Evergreen community is also marked by a high degree of participation by the librarians who use the software and contribute documentation, bug reports, and organizational energy. As such, Evergreen is very much about both the developers *and* the users.
Local Literature
Adamson University joins Library Link
One of the Philippines’ leading universities, known for quality education particularly for the socially disadvantaged, has joined Library Link, the Filipinas Heritage Library’s online union catalog of Filipiniana.
Adamson University is the 47th institution to become a member of Library Link.
The partnership was formalized by a memorandum of agreement signed by FHL director Mari Toni C. Ortigas , Library Link coordinator Mary Rose Loria, Adamson University Library director Norma Jhocson, and VP for academic affairs Dr. Rosario P. Alberto.
FHL has uploaded 10,266 records from Adamson University’s Filipiniana collection to the Library Link database, bringing the project’s total record count to over 145,000. Adamson University was founded in 1932 by the late Dr. George

Lucas Adamson, together with his cousins Alexander Adamson and George Athos Adamson. Its initial efforts were directed towards the developmental needs of the Philippines, notably in science and chemical technology.
Located in Ermita, Manila, Adamson has gained a meaningful Christian presence in the academic world and is actively involved in the development of people, especially the poor.
The university is recognized as one of the country’s leading institutions for graduate education, laws, arts, sciences, engineering, pharmacy, architecture, business administration, teacher education, and for secondary, elementary, and pre-school education.
Library Link is a research tool that combines the bibliographic entries of Filipiniana books, references, and records of universities and member-institutions into a searchable database accessible over the Internet.
Librarians from UP Los Baños were invited by UP Diliman Library to feature the University Library and its unit libraries on-air thru LibRadio: Librarians saRadio program air every Wednesday 12:00 nn to 1:00 pm at DZUP 1602 KasaliKa...!. The program is hosted by Ms. Marian S. Ramos, Ms. Eimee Rhea C. Lagrama and Ms. Sharon Esposo. Its maiden episode was on September 8, 2010 with Ms. Salvacion C. Arlante, University Librarian, UPD, was the resource person. Two episodes were given to UPLB. The May 11, 2011 episode where Ms. Concepcion DL. Saul, the University Librarian, and Ms. Editha A. Mallion, Head of the University Special Collection, served as the resource persons featuring the University Library and its Special Collections. The May 18, 2011 episode featured the UPLB Unit Libraries, represented by Ms. Saul for National Institute of Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology (BIOTECH) Library, Ms. Adelina M.

Esperante for the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Library, Ms. Andriette S. Valdez, College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) Library, and Ms. Imelda B. Veluz, Postharvest Horticulture
Training and Research Center (PHTRC) Library. Another episodes are in-progress and to be scheduled for the next succeeding months for other UPLB unit libraries. The said radio program is a library promotion activity of UPD Library featuring different libraries of all CUs with emphasis on their services offered, strength of their collections and other topics that benefit all UP and non-UP constituents from the library. The Arellano University Library comprises the following collections and services: Circulation Unit (foreign books on all fields of interest); Filipiniana Unit (books locally published in the Philippines, books written by Filipino author and books about the Philippines); Periodicals Unit (collection includes journals and magazines in various fields of interest); Reference Unit (collection of reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbook, almanac, geographical sources, etc.); Audio-Visual Unit (a collection of audio-visual materials such as CD-ROM, VHS tapes & cassette tapes) and the Graduate School Unit (collection of books for post graduate level together with the thesis collection for reference purposes).
As part of the library system, the adoption of computerized version of card catalog commonly known as OPAC (On-line Public Access catalog) is used by the patrons as a medium of searching the library collection.

Method of Research Used
Descriptive Method
In this study, the descriptive method of research is used to determine the system that they using in order to find out what are the possible problem; it helps us to identify the cause of something that is happening around their system.
Data Gathering Instrument 1. Interview
We interview Ms. Abby Maalindog the librarian of San Isidro National High School. She elaborated the transaction made in the School. She also stated the rules with the library.
2. Survey
In this survey, the researchers would be able to determine if the existing and proposed system had a big differences and effect to the library. The survey was made possible through the use of questionnaires which were distributed to 20 respondents the are of the study. 3. Sampling of existing documents form and files
The proponents used these techniques to get facts in making the user Interface to give the end user familiarity.
4. Observation of the work Environment
We observed how the borrowers and the librarian performed the transaction. This provides the order of the flow of data.

Method Used in Developing the Software System
Feasibility
Operational
The Computerized library System would process client information and transaction. The purpose of these is to meet to commitment, and can work more efficiently. On the other hand, the program application employed for the design of the new computer system was Visual Basic 2008 as the fort-end Microsoft Access 2007 as its bank-end.
Economic
To determine its economic side, we used the cost Benefit Analysis. It show detailed breakdown cost, in terms of labor and materials.
Programming Design Tools
We used Data Flow Diagram to help us understand the flow of data within the system. We are able to compare the process of existing and proposed system. We also used Hierarchical-Input-Process-Output. The HIPO technique help us in planning and/or documenting a computer program. A HIPO model consists of a hierarchy chart that graphically represents the program’s control structure. We used Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in making the program. Using IPO (Input-Process-Output) also help us. These describe the inputs to, the output from, and function (or process) performed by each module on the hierarchy chart. We also used Program Flowchart. It is just like the IPO, though they have different symbols.

Programming Language
The System’s programming language is Visual Basic.net. Visual Basic (VB) is a programming environment from Microsoft in which a programmer uses a graphical user interface (GUI) to choose and modify preselected sections of code written in the BASIC programming language. This gives us convenience in making the system. As for user, it would easy for them to use the system for it has a user friendly graphical user interface.
Testing
We keep on testing the program check if the system has errors. We are doing this to produce an error-free system. Testing provides also an objectives, independent view of the software to allow us see what more is needed in the system. Test techniques include, but are not limited to, the process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding software bugs.
Methods Used in Evaluating the Software Product
To evaluate the system, we always keep in mind that we should make a system that would reduce the employees hours required to accomplish any given task. Testing tools should be brought into an organization to improve the efficiency of a proven testing process. The value of the actual process of every transaction must be followed. Security
We include security system for the protection of the information. This is made to avoid leakage of confidential information. The systems contain a username and Password. The user must also enter a correct keyword in adding, deleting or editing records defined by the system developer. The system also user a three-chance features. The user is given the chances to input correct username and password. If wrong information was inputted after three trials the system will be exited automatically.
Instruction Manual The system has its own instruction manual to help its user to navigate the System. It has sets of instructions and steps on how to use the system. Analysis, Presentation and Interpretation of Data Result of the interview
Interview is a very important tool in our data gathering, this allows us to ask questions about the needs and requirements they want in a system. Though this, we are able to know the flow of data in the transaction. We asked them question that will help our group in developing the system. Also through this, we are able to find out the problem within the current system. We used all the information gathered in this interview to develop a system that will meet the needs of the company.
Result of Sampling of Existing Documents, forms and files
Sampling of existing documentation forms and files is very useful to us in making the user interview of the system proposed system. This will give familiarity to the end-user.

Result of the Observation
We asked permission Ms. Abigail Maalindog to allow us to conduct an observation in their office. We noticed that the Assistant librarian uses Microsoft Office Excel in recording student information. Receipts are manually generated.
Result of the Survey
We provided survey forms to evaluate both the existing and proposed system. We distributed the survey questionnaires to the people around the area of the study. The survey is where they can rate and compare the existing and proposed system. Below is the result of both existing and proposed system.

Chapter I Introduction
Nowadays, in a highly technological society, human productivity is made more efficient through the development of electronic gadgets. Now, with the advent of such modernization in education, one way to globalize the process of research is to realize that technology is advancing at an incredible fast pace. Computers are not confined to being used for entertainment but its role in education is also vast.
Computers are becoming in our life and one cannot image life without computers in today’s world. If you go to a library or any establishment computers are all in places .We can say that this kind of innovation assist each one of us and uses to experience a well-situated life. Thus, we students also need to use different gadgets, devices or modern technologies in order to have an easy gong life at school. A manual system present in a school library will not give us a quick finding a books or even determine its availability.
Library provides a lot of information for us by its available books used for information gathering, or even in different purpose .The existing library system used by San Isidro National High School is manually operated. This is a big deal. This could be minimized with the presence of the computers which could facilitate the in the library faster.

A computerized system enhanced our lifestyle; the society has made a very real commitment to computer, an electronic device design to manipulate and used to store data and information. We must admit that companies and people in the business world have reached the point of no return in its dependence on computer. Most of the companies are experiencing problems in their manual system that’s why most of them are engaging with computerized system to eliminate problems in transactions.
Some of the library systems are still operated manually. Many people are involve in the process of managing the library, in a such way of keeping records regarding the books, categorizing and registration for borrowers, all these things have to be carried out manually. If the library has large amount of books, and many borrowers are using the library, handling and managing is also a problem.

Background of the Study
Through the initiative of the Antipolo City Government headed by Mayor. Angelito C . Gatlabayan and endorsed by Ms. Melinda D. Gedang, who was then the principal of Antipolo National High school, as per Resolution No. 41-A-99, a resolution approving the opening of San Isidro National High School in Antipolo city in time for the start of the school year 1999-2000 and for other purposes, San Isidro National High School formally stated its operation.
San Isidro National High School ‘s existing system in recording, keeping students and books records are done manually. The Librarian compile the students index cards in one box and arrange it alphabetically that sometimes lead in error . Based on what we have observed in their manual procedure its waste of time. Both librarian and students need to fill out new index cards thus, we decided to make a computerized library system for maintaining and retrieving students and books records in a more organized, easy and convenient way.
The library system’s main purpose is to help the librarian to maintain library transactions so that nothing will affect the smooth flow of it. One way is converting manual system into a computerized system and San Isidro National High School still makes use of manual library system. The main purpose of library is to provide conductive learning tool and place for the students and other clients in order to attain good and high quality education.

The library is open 8:00 am – 6:00 pm and all, As long as you present an ID just for identification for a registration. The books are well arranged and open shelves. It consist more o r less 3,000 books in the different volume. Some books
came from the project of students. The library also has board games like chess and scrabble .They are using manual system in systemizing books for services. About the registration they are using manual system by using a record book for information to be sign by the borrowers.

Statement of the Problem
General Problem The existing library system are done manually by the librarian and borrowers in borrowing, retrieving of books and monthly reports. With its kind of system, the transaction In the library takes time and sometimes records are misplaced by the librarian because the system is efficient way of finding, borrowing and retrieving of books.
Specific Problem 1. The manual process is time consuming.
2. It is hard to recognize and to find the files of the Student.
3. The library system of the school has unorganized procedure of transaction and they cannot monitor properly the borrowing and returning of books.

Objective of the Study
General We aim to develop a library system that will cover the transaction in San Isidro National High School that will develop and upgrade the existing way of library system of their school .
Specific 1 Computerized library system help to save more time and effort in searching, borrowing and returning books.

Significance of the Study
Educational The Library System is the study that will make the operation of San Isidro National High School Library faster and accurately. In this study we develop our programming skills. This will also set as a reference material for future researchers who will take up computer courses. This can be use as a guide to us, students, in making a computerized library system in other school if they want to improve their manual procedures.
Technological The purpose of the study of this research is to innovate the library system of San Isidro National High School in terms of system security, efficiency and accuracy. This research will help the librarian to lessen their work. And because of these different technology created now more system are now done without too much effort instead we use devices that are convenient to do a specific task.
Economical Through this study, the San Isidro National high Library transaction will easier and faster. The lesser the time of transaction means more transaction to be made. A computerized library system can be a little help to lessen the expense in the library.

Scope and Delimitation
Scope The main concern of this study was focused on the system they are using, in categorizing books, and the registration of borrowers and how they record the list of borrowers and books.
The log in feature will help to avoid unauthorized person to access the system. Proposed system will serve as a file management system that monitoring the books availability. Compute the penalty of overdue books and print reports of all transaction in the library.
Delimitation
The study does not cover the payroll and the enrollment system of the school. Only librarian is allowed to add user. For the registration, input of information to data base is only done by authorized personnel or else authorized personnel will authorize borrowers to use the system for registration.

Foreign Studies
Russian March, 1995 A system of library networks has been formed in the country, though not in the telecommunication but in the organizational and functional sense. Every network has its own leading library (or libraries). As a rule, these are large scientific libraries with impressive collections and well-developed computerized systems. The Russian National Public Library for Science and Technology, for instance, is the leading library for a network of scientific and technological libraries of the country, the State Russian Library (the former Lenin Library) and the Russian National Library are both the leading ones for the Ministry of Culture libraries, the State Central Scientific Medical Library is the leading one for a network of medical libraries, etc. Interlibrary cooperation has always been in force incorporating ILL services, acquisition coordination, joint updating of the Union Catalog, and information retrieval on query. However, it has been based on traditional technologies. Introduction of the RELCOM e-mail network, a home analog of INTERNET, has drastically changed the situation, though leaving unsolved the tasks of interactive access to electronic catalogs, to the Union Catalog and the National Bibliography System, a query - response mode, and other real-time modes. That is why, a creation of the first Russian computerized library network has become the order of the day. Thus, a project of the State Federal Library Network was included by the State Council for Informatization into the Informatization Concept of Russia. After that, an interbranch commission was set up in 1992 under the aegis of the Russian Ministry of Culture to develop and introduce a project of a computerized library information network. 11 A usability study of online library systems: A case of Sultanah Bahiyah Library, University Utara Malaysia. The purpose of this study was to investigate usability of online library systems in University Utara Malaysia (UUM). This study evaluated the usability of Sultanah Bahiyah Library’s web based systems by investigating the aspects of simplicity, comfort, user friendliness, control, readability, information adequacy/task match, navigability, recognition, access time, relevancy, consistency and visual presentation. This study examined user’s views about the usability of digital libraries whereas current and perceived importance. A sample of 45 students of Master of Business Administration (MBA) has been chosen. The Sultanah Bahiyah Library’s web based systems is very important especially for students and academic staffs of University Utara Malaysia. The usability of the Library’s web based systems makes students easy to connect and for that the website should be helpful and attractive within good contents. The result found that the parallel nature of the users’ current views about the usability of digital libraries and users’ perceived importance of digital library usability allows direct comparison of all usability properties. The overall results yielded significant difference for the variables of user’s current views and perceived importance.
This study was initiated by the Newfoundland Public Library Services (NPLS) to assess the feasibility of automation for the library services and to determine the viability of an integrated automated library system for the NPLS. The study addresses the needs of NPLS in terms of library automation; benefits to be achieved through the introduction of automation; automation requirements and costs; cost of automating in relation to potential cost savings; staffing requirements for automation; and a recommended approach to automation. The report focuses on the following areas: (1) needs analysis (headquarters, technical services department, provincial reference and resource library, St. John's City (Newfoundland, Canada) libraries, regional libraries, books-by-mail);

(2) functional requirements for the application software; (3) system options (technical requirements, software options, microcomputer equipment, estimated costs); (4) database creation and management (existing machine-readable records, options for catalogue maintenance with the integrated library systems, issues affecting the decision, estimated costs); (5) management of an automated library system (staffing, training, estimated costs); (6) the costs and benefits of library automation (quality of service to NPLS clientele, networking, efficiency, accuracy and timeliness of library routines, management information, cost-benefit analysis); and (7) a system development strategy and implementation plan. Conclusions and recommendations are provided in addition to tables and appendices related to the topical issues addressed in this report. (MAB).
Local Studies
The De La Salle University Library offers academic library resources and services to support the institution’s instructional, curricular, research, and extension programs. It strives to provide an adequate and stimulating learning environment through organized, relevant and fast delivery of information services and excellent facilities. It is housed in a fully-air conditioned four story building strategically accessible to faculty and students. It has a floor area of 6,800 square meters to accommodate its collection and provide reading areas, workstations, listening and viewing rooms, administrative offices, function rooms, a faculty area, several Internet access areas, including the newly-opened café @ the library . The library has a collection of approximately 320,000 books with almost 10,000 volumes on deposit and close to 30,000 volumes of graduate and undergraduate theses and dissertations. Periodical subscriptions are either in print or electronic format. Access to online database subscriptions covering full-text journal articles on various subjects is provided both in and off-campus..

Ateneo De Manila Its primary purpose is to support and enhance the educational and research endeavors of the three schools it serves by acquiring all forms of recorded information in selected fields pertinent to the goals and objectives of the university and to make them available to members of the Professional Schools' community engaged in teaching, research and study and in the pursuit of knowledge in general. The Library also recognizes its obligation to support the intellectual effort of groups of scholars, students and others outside the immediate university context in view of its unique capabilities nationally and internationally in areas of particular strength.
The PUP University Library System shared a nomadic history with the University. Like the University, it had no home of its own until after the Second World War. In 1933, it was sharing a space with the Philippine Normal School. In 1947, Congress allotted the amount of PhP 120,000.00 for the construction of the Philippine School of Commerce library and social hall buildings. PSC President Luis F. Reyes acted as Administrator of Libraries. The library had an initial collection of twelve (12) volumes. As the library collection started to grow during the period 1952-1961, Ms. Dolores A. Teotico acted as Library Administrator. She was appointed Supervising Librarian in 1962. During this period, the library adopted an open-shelf system. Room I of the Library Annex in Lepanto, Sampaloc was converted as reading room for male students and an additional librarian was assigned at the High School reading room. During the school year, 1964-1965, more books were acquired through purchase and donation. The Library Board was created to act as policy determining body relating to the library system. The previous policy of suspending the lending of books during the examination period was lifted.

Foreign Literature Libraries have established voluntary associations, often on a regional basis, to provide an online union catalog of all the items held by all member libraries. Whenever a library adds a new title to its catalog, a copy of the record is also added to the union list. This allows librarians to quickly determine which other libraries hold an item. Software then facilitates the request and supply tasks. In the U.S., Online Computer Library Center (OCLC) is used by public and academic libraries. Formerly, another network RLIN (Research Libraries Information Network) was used primarily by academic libraries but merged with OCLC on October 1, 2007. Australia and New Zealand use Libraries Australia and New Zealand Libraries' Catalogue respectively, the national bibliographic networks of those countries.
Online requests are usually submitted via OCLC's World Cat or First Search in the United States. Libraries without access to either can participate in interlibrary loan by submitting requests by postal mail, fax, email, or telephone. These are referred to as manual requests. Manual requests can be submitted in the United States by using an ALA (American Library Association) Interlibrary Loan Form.
Some libraries establish reciprocal arrangements with each other to supply loans and copies for free. Examples of such arrangements in the United States include Libraries Very Interested in Sharing (LVIS), Amigos, Mid-America Association of Law Libraries (MAALL), Bibliographical Center for Research, and the Greater Western Library Alliance (formerly the Big 12 Plus Library Consortium). Sometimes these arrangements include other services such as the Trans-Amigos Express (TAE) courier services which will ship and deliver items to Amigos members on the TAE route. SINGAPORE
The National Library Board (NLB), which manages Singapore's 40 public libraries, has beefed up its IT infrastructure with new Web-enabled terminals to provide enhanced security features and easy management.
The deployment encompasses new "borrowing" kiosks which sport built-in cameras that capture the faces of library users while they check out their loans. Installed at six library branches since last December, the kiosk will enable library officials to resolve disputes based on images it captures, explained Kuan Sung, NLB's infocomm operations manager.
"Some patrons might claim that they did not borrow certain books, so the images will help to verify if it's true. So, on top of the transaction records, we also have visual records of who borrowed what," Kuan said.
"Without visual records, in the past, library staff took more than a week to search through borrowing records to resolve such disputes. And that (length of time) could lead to complaints from the public," he added.
The board's 10 million library items--ranging from books and magazines to music CDs and DVDs--have all been tagged with RFID (radio frequency identification) chips that contain information such as book titles and call numbers.
Presently, to borrow any library items, users just need to slot in their identity or membership cards at a borrowing kiosk and place the item on a designated area. The kiosk's RFID reader retrieves--via radio waves--the information embedded in the tag of each library item and completes the loan process.
"If someone uses a membership card to fraudulently borrow library items, we can retrieve the image (captured at the kiosk) and give it to the police (for use in their)

investigation," said Wong Tack Wai, NLB's senior manager for library management and operations.
Kuan noted that to address privacy concerns that the board's 2 million members may have, the images are also encrypted and watermarked to ensure that they do not fall into the wrong hands.
The Web-enabled kiosks also mean that NLB's network administrators can easily retrieve the visual records, and perform regular maintenance through a Web browser interface.
"In the past, administrators needed to install client software on their machines to manage the kiosks," Kuan said, adding that the administrator only needs to go to a URL to manage the kiosks.
The new systems are part of the S$10 million (US$6 million) tender to beef up the board's RFID-based borrowing infrastructure. This project was awarded to Wavex Technologies, a Singapore-based RFID technology provider last October. Other initiatives in the pipeline include recommending books to members based on borrowing patterns, as well as providing the exact location of an item within the library premises at enquiry stations.
The Evergreen Project develops an open source ILS (integrated library system) used by approximately 800 libraries. The software, also called Evergreen, is used by libraries to provide their public catalog interface as well as to manage back-of-house operations such as circulation (checkouts and check ins), acquisition of library materials, and (particularly in the case of Evergreen) sharing resources among groups of libraries.

The Evergreen Project was initiated by the Georgia Public Library System in 2006 to serve their need for a scalable catalog shared by (as of now) approximately 250 public libraries in the state of Georgia. After Evergreen was released, it has since been adopted by a number of library consortia in the US and Canada as well as various individual libraries, and has started being adopted by libraries outside of North America.
The Evergreen development community is relatively small, with about nine active committers and roughly 50 individuals who have contributed patches (as of March 10th, 2011). However, the Evergreen community is also marked by a high degree of participation by the librarians who use the software and contribute documentation, bug reports, and organizational energy. As such, Evergreen is very much about both the developers *and* the users.

Adamson University joins Library Link
One of the Philippines’ leading universities, known for quality education particularly for the socially disadvantaged, has joined Library Link, the Filipinas Heritage Library’s online union catalog of Filipiniana.
Adamson University is the 47th institution to become a member of Library Link.
The partnership was formalized by a memorandum of agreement signed by FHL director Mari Toni C. Ortigas , Library Link coordinator Mary Rose Loria, Adamson University Library director Norma Jhocson, and VP for academic affairs Dr. Rosario P. Alberto.
FHL has uploaded 10,266 records from Adamson University’s Filipiniana collection to the Library Link database, bringing the project’s total record count to over 145,000. Adamson University was founded in 1932 by the late Dr. George

Lucas Adamson, together with his cousins Alexander Adamson and George Athos Adamson. Its initial efforts were directed towards the developmental needs of the Philippines, notably in science and chemical technology.

Library Link is a research tool that combines the bibliographic entries of Filipiniana books, references, and records of universities and member-institutions into a searchable database accessible over the Internet.
Librarians from UP Los Baños were invited by UP Diliman Library to feature the University Library and its unit libraries on-air thru LibRadio: Librarians saRadio program air every Wednesday 12:00 nn to 1:00 pm at DZUP 1602 KasaliKa...!. The program is hosted by Ms. Marian S. Ramos, Ms. Eimee Rhea C. Lagrama and Ms. Sharon Esposo. Its maiden episode was on September 8, 2010 with Ms. Salvacion C. Arlante, University Librarian, UPD, was the resource person. Two episodes were given to UPLB. The May 11, 2011 episode where Ms. Concepcion DL. Saul, the University Librarian, and Ms. Editha A. Mallion, Head of the University Special Collection, served as the resource persons featuring the University Library and its Special Collections. The May 18, 2011 episode featured the UPLB Unit Libraries, represented by Ms. Saul for National Institute of Biotechnology and Applied Microbiology (BIOTECH) Library, Ms. Adelina M.

Esperante for the College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) Library, Ms. Andriette S. Valdez, College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) Library, and Ms. Imelda B. Veluz, Postharvest Horticulture
Training and Research Center (PHTRC) Library. Another episodes are in-progress and to be scheduled for the next succeeding months for other UPLB unit libraries. The said radio program is a library promotion activity of UPD Library featuring different libraries of all CUs with emphasis on their services offered, strength of their collections and other topics that benefit all UP and non-UP constituents from the library. (VP Alcantara and CDL Saul).
The Arellano University Library comprises the following collections and services: Circulation Unit (foreign books on all fields of interest); Filipiniana Unit (books locally published in the Philippines, books written by Filipino author and books about the Philippines); Periodicals Unit (collection includes journals and magazines in various fields of interest); Reference Unit (collection of reference materials such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbook, almanac, geographical sources, etc.); Audio-Visual Unit (a collection of audio-visual materials such as CD-ROM, VHS tapes & cassette tapes) and the Graduate School Unit (collection of books for post graduate level together with the thesis collection for reference purposes).
As part of the library system, the adoption of computerized version of card catalog commonly known as OPAC (On-line Public Access catalog) is used by the patrons as a medium of searching the library collection.

Method of Research Used
Descriptive Method
In this study, the descriptive method of research is used to determine the system that they using in order to find out what are the possible problem; it helps us to identify the cause of something that is happening around their system.
Data Gathering Instrument 1. Interview
We interview Ms. Abby Maalindog the librarian of San Isidro National High School. She elaborated the transaction made in the School. She also stated the rules with the library.
2. Survey
In this survey, the researchers would be able to determine if the existing and proposed system had a big differences and effect to the library. The survey was made possible through the use of questionnaires which were distributed to 20 respondents the are of the study. 3. Sampling of existing documents form and files
The proponents used these techniques to get facts in making the user Interface to give the end user familiarity.
4. Observation of the work Environment
We observed how the borrowers and the librarian performed the transaction. This provides the order of the flow of data.

Method Used in Developing the Software System
Feasibility
Operational
The Computerized library System would process client information and transaction. The purpose of these is to meet to commitment, and can work more efficiently. On the other hand, the program application employed for the design of the new computer system was Visual Basic 2008 as the fort-end Microsoft Access 2007 as its bank-end.
Economic
To determine its economic side, we used the cost Benefit Analysis. It show detailed breakdown cost, in terms of labor and materials.
Programming Design Tools
We used Data Flow Diagram to help us understand the flow of data within the system. We are able to compare the process of existing and proposed system. We also used Hierarchical-Input-Process-Output. The HIPO technique help us in planning and/or documenting a computer program. A HIPO model consists of a hierarchy chart that graphically represents the program’s control structure. We used Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 in making the program. Using IPO (Input-Process-Output) also help us. These describe the inputs to, the output from, and function (or process) performed by each module on the hierarchy chart. We also used Program Flowchart. It is just like the IPO, though they have different symbols.

Programming Language
The System’s programming language is Visual Basic.net. Visual Basic (VB) is a programming environment from Microsoft in which a programmer uses a graphical user interface (GUI) to choose and modify preselected sections of code written in the BASIC programming language. This gives us convenience in making the system. As for user, it would easy for them to use the system for it has a user friendly graphical user interface.
Testing
We keep on testing the program check if the system has errors. We are doing this to produce an error-free system. Testing provides also an objectives, independent view of the software to allow us see what more is needed in the system. Test techniques include, but are not limited to, the process of executing a program or application with the intent of finding software bugs.
Methods Used in Evaluating the Software Product
To evaluate the system, we always keep in mind that we should make a system that would reduce the employees hours required to accomplish any given task. Testing tools should be brought into an organization to improve the efficiency of a proven testing process. The value of the actual process of every transaction must be followed. We must find out if the finished system met the requirements and criteria specified the business, must be able to do what the user requires, a system that is within the or below the line of budget the line of budget of the firm and lastly, a working, reliable, and efficient program.

Security
We include security system for the protection of the information. This is made to avoid leakage of confidential information. The systems contain a username and Password. The user must also enter a correct keyword in adding, deleting or editing records defined by the system developer. The system also user a three-chance features. The user is given the chances to input correct username and password. If wrong information was inputted after three trials the system will be exited automatically.
Instruction Manual The system has its own instruction manual to help its user to navigate the System. It has sets of instructions and steps on how to use the system. Analysis, Presentation and Interpretation of Data Result of the interview
Interview is a very important tool in our data gathering, this allows us to ask questions about the needs and requirements they want in a system. Though this, we are able to know the flow of data in the transaction. We asked them question that will help our group in developing the system. Also through this, we are able to find out the problem within the current system. We used all the information gathered in this interview to develop a system that will meet the needs of the company.
Result of Sampling of Existing Documents, forms and files
Sampling of existing documentation forms and files is very useful to us in making the user interview of the system proposed system. This will give familiarity to the end-user.

Result of the Observation
We asked permission Ms. Abigail Maalindog to allow us to conduct an observation in their office. We noticed that the Assistant librarian uses Microsoft Office Excel in recording student information. Receipts are manually generated.
Result of the Survey
We provided survey forms to evaluate both the existing and proposed system. We distributed the survey questionnaires to the people around the area of the study. The survey is where they can rate and compare the existing and proposed system. Below is the result of both existing and proposed system.
