Liberty University Application Essay Sample
I am a perfect candidate for Liberty University because of my diversity, diligence, creativity, and versatility. I classify myself as a mixed artist because I am able to utilize a wide range of art styles and technology, including painting, 2D graphics, 3D modeling, and sculpture. Since none of my family members held an art-related career, my dad strongly opposed my decision to pursue graphic design. Without his financial support, I have had a difficult time paying a part of tuition and personal expenses. Fortunately, my art and designs have taken me to America, allowed me to meet amazing people, and assisted me in paying for my living expenses. Moreover, it will enable me to promote my academic studies and professional development in the country. …show more content…
To expand my knowledge and take up a challenge in another creative field, I participated in the annual fashion show at Liberty. Although I was the designer with the least experience and one of the few who is not majoring in fashion design, I demonstrated as much passion for creativity as everyone else in the show. However, I often experienced low self-esteem whenever I failed to sew an invisible zipper or a seamless seam finish, but I kept looking for video tutorials and encouraged myself not to underestimate my ability. Before I knew it, I had spent an entire spring break finishing the final garment. My design inspiration came from millions of asteroids with different formations and sizes in outer space. The dress I made is a sleeveless tube dress with a sparkling front-split that highlights a modern, sexy, and feminine look. To incorporate my inspiration of asteroids into this look, I depicted a scene of the asteroids floating in space by adhering multiple rhinestones around the neckline and sprinkling glitter to the front-split fabric of the dress. Throughout the fashion show, I had to practice my patience, strengthen my sewing skills, and most importantly, take the initiative and turn a dress from a drawing into a reality. These skills are not only going to benefit my future career but also enrich my personal life. As time passes, I see my dad's opposition to my major as a blessing in disguise because it has given me an opportunity to step outside my comfort zone and discover how strongly I feel about art and

Samuel Clemens advised “Go to bed early, get up early-this is wise”, and by appreciating the soundness of his words, rarely, if ever, do I find myself in the chaos of late morning traffic. By accomplishing little everyday small tasks such as getting up early in time for a healthy breakfast or studying in motivating environments allows me to be extremely productive and effective as a student at the Santa Rosa Junior College (SRJC). For the past seven months, I’ve held an environmental specialist internship at the Santa Rosa Water Department that goes hand-in-hand with my dedication and efforts at the junior college. Over the past two years, it has been my pleasure to participate in courses and to become a part of the SRJC culture. I am motivated and eager to continue to develop a strong background of calculus, general chemistry, biology and critical thinking, and expanding physics, engineering and organic chemistry. My overarching education goal is to receive a bachelors of science in environmental engineering or hydrologic science. My top three universities of choice are UC Berkley and Cal Poly for their environmental engineering programs and UC Santa Barbara for hydrologic…

My parents, like countless immigrants, relocated my family of five in pursuit of the highly sought after “American Dream.” The excitement quickly wore off once I was confronted with the realization that we will now be residing in a one bedroom, one bathroom basement apartment in Brooklyn, New York. While my parents attempted to provide for my brothers and me, I undertook the task of mastering the English language. In contrast to my classmates, my learning recommenced after school; I spent countless hours reviewing index cards struggling to obtain a grasp of the English language. For added support I attended an English as a second language class, where I received one on one attention. The alienation from the classmates that surpassed me with ease triggered feelings of inadequacy; this only fueled my determination to succeed.…

Bryant McGill once said, "Whatever makes you uncomfortable is your biggest chance at growth". No matter the situation, people usually will either follow or lead. As a freshman in high school, I was the follower, never fully realizing my potential of being the leader. Finding myself would take time, and a lot of encouraging along the way. Going into my freshman year, my participation in class government was mostly a popularity contest. Which meant not so much about leading a particular class or group of people. I didn't find myself thinking about running for any major ASB (Associated Student Body) position. A larger, more pronounced position in ASB would mean being uncomfortable in more situations and also having to grow into true leadership.…

“Hello, my name is Maya Parson and I would like to represent the city of Vance in the Virginia Girls’ State General Assembly.” The sound of my foot nervously tapping on the marble floor marked the silence that lay under my wavering voice. I had the concentrated attention of 50 of the most accomplished female rising seniors who where invited to spend a week at the American Legion Auxiliary’s Virginia Girl’s State program. I could feel the nervous sweat gathering on my palms. I was forced to place my paper on the podium after failing to read it in my unstable hands. It had been a turbulent past few days getting accustomed to the hectic routine and becoming best friends with 612 other brilliant females and here I was completely leaping from the bounds of comfort and campaigning for a representative office. What made me decide to stand up with eight other girls who had resumes that, although were lengthy, ultimately were superficial? I was not the type of person to put herself in a position to be judged publicly on merit. Putting myself out to be judged was exactly what I had avoided all of my life. I looked through the glass door into the courtyard of the Longwood Campus and saw a single flower on its own in a flower garden. Suddenly, the words of my junior year English teacher on transcendentalism had bombarded my thought process. I realized in this moment that going to other countries or being the head of a club did not give someone value as a political leader as candidates before me had argued. The worth of a human being comes from their contributions as a member of society and their ability to not just learn but to do. This can only be achieved by the recognition of the individual. I explained the transcendentalist movement to my peers and made a case for why this understanding can be useful in representing a group of people. I spoke of the importance of speaking deliberately and of not being afraid to challenge popular ideologies and thoughts. I…

In 2011 I had the privilege to attend Camp Eagle the same week as the Dallas Baptist University Worship team. I was able to meet the band members Aaron Zavala, Jordan Patterson, and Jason Deutsch, the bass player. They looked like such a close group, a group I knew I wanted to be a part of. We are naturally drawn to those who share common interests; I play bass for my church, and I had the opportunity to talk to Jason about playing bass guitar and my future. He asked me where I planned to attend college and I could not answer his question, but I had not really thought about it. He started telling me about a few of his experiences at DBU and what an amazing school it had been for him. We ended our conversation with him telling me to continue playing bass because there aren’t enough bass players in the world.…
