My Library Experience
Nowadays ,The Library plays a important role in our daily life. It’s not only provides us knowledge but also gives us the effective environment to study . The Library is really a good friend with thousands of books and modern equipment. I had a good chance to approach it and realize that we have three things to help us in our studies in the library : library resources, equipment ,and journals. First of all, The library resource is very useful if students know how to access it. First, i can find a thousand of books in the library , I was shocked when I went to the library for the first time in here. I had to spend 2 days to know the way to use it. With diversity of books, i can find any topic that i want to serve i studies. For examples: if you want to look for a book about history of Asia, you should go to Library of congress classification system and look for the letter “D”, it will display the book you want to have. Next, The library also provides you the place to study. In my opinion, the library is the best place for my assignment with the silence environment and modern equipment. Especially, The library has study rooms for groups of people who want to study together. For instance, you have a idea that you want to show to your friends , of course, the library doesn’t allow you to make noise and the study room is the best choice for you to do this. Besides that, one thing that makes make me smile with the library is the cost, as you know it costs a lot of money if you want to buy some books, but everything becomes easier with library. In here, everything is for free and

    ABSTRACT This is an exploratory study of the leisure reading habits and interests among secondary school students and their use of the school library facilities. Using simple random sampling, three hundred male and female students were selected from ten secondary schools. The survey instrument was designed in the form of a structured questionnaire comprising a series of sequenced questions. The findings highlighted some of the factors related to reading habits and interests in Sri Lanka. It is also hoped that this study will stimulate further in depth studies which may help to improve the reading habits and interests and to increase the value of school library and reading materials in general to students in secondary schools in Sri Lanka. The findings showed that the students read regularly outside school hours, but their reading appears to be confined mainly to text books. They preferred to read nonfiction over fiction material. Reading, therefore, was undertaken mainly for acquiring knowledge or for study purpose. Consequently they used the library mainly to study rather than read for leisure. Most have positive attitude towards the library but did not use the tools the library offered and expressed dissatisfaction with their library's collection. The results of this survey indicate several problems which need to be solved if the habit of reading is to extend beyond "reading to learn". Students also need to be made aware of the importance of the school library resources in their education and in leisure time.
