LGBT, which stands for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender, is a great – scale community which makes up 10% of the world population.
Demographer Gary Gates, who works for the Williams Institute at UCLA’s School of Law, has compiled the results from nine surveys that attempt to measure sexual orientation — five of them from the U.S. He estimates that 3.5% of the U.S. population identify as lesbian, gay or bisexual, while 0.3% are transgender. … He also points out that bisexual identification is generally more common among women than among men.
However, in the modern century, LGBT is still considered as a sensitive issue and lots of heterosexuals are homophobia. How about societal attitudes toward homosexuality? More than 95% homosexuals, specially youth, are discriminated, harassed or even suffered violence. Despite all those things, LGBT community always fights for their right, try hard to contribute social life and beside that, there are still much heterosexuals who support for them. The final achievement that all of them want to get is to be equality and recognition.
