Letter: Why Peds Should Be Illegal
Thank you for taking time out of your day to read my letter that I wrote about Peds. I think the use of Peds (Performance-Enhancing Drugs) should be illegal. They are also referred as ergogenic aids. There are many problems with using peds. Sports are to be played between the best team and not between peds.

11% of High School boys say that they have tried steroids at least once to get that edge for a game. All the forms of performance enhancing drugs are Anabolic drugs, Stimulants, Ergogenic aids, Human biomolecules, Adaptogens, Nootropics, Painkillers, Blood Boosters, Sedative, Anxiolytics, Gene Doping. One drug that is used in the NFL are Painkiller. They help reduce the pain someone has. It is shaming us when you can go back in the books and see that the United States athletes are using peds.

In “We, the Public, Place the Best Athletes on Pedestals,” author William Moller presents his explanation for the widespread use of performance-enhancing drugs (PEDs). Moller begins by telling a story about his past experience with PEDs. During his sophomore year of high school, Moller was under immense pressure from himself and others to achieve a standard of excellence and secure the top spot in his class. After pulling three all-nighters in a row and forcing himself to stay awake for more studying, he willingly took a PED to improve his focus. It was easy for Moller to make the decision of being rewarded with a good test grade and risking the consequences of getting caught, instead of doing the right thing and falling to his competition.…

Overall, I proved that drugs are a huge problem in sports today and need to be eliminated. In order to do that, we need to intensify the punishments for violating the drug policy because of all the damage drugs do to the game, athlete, and so the athlete or athletes can learn their lesson. With many voices from the fan base, we will bring the PED’s crashing down. If this happens players will not be tempted to cheat, and in doing so will not lose money, fans, and future…

Performance enhancing drugs are not good for you and not fair in professional sports. They are not fair because they are pretty much cheating. In the article, “Athletes and Drugs”, the author states, “Some professional athletes use steroids and other drugs to gain a competitive advantage in their sport.”(Sprague) This shows that they are using substances that gives them the upperhand, like building muscles, in the sport without working hard like everyone else. Also, these performance enhancing drugs may damage your body horribly. According to the author, “Such substances have been known to cause death by heart attack in previously healthy users.”(Sprague) These steroid and other drugs can change many people’s lives by damaging their health…

Today when people hear the words Performance-Enhancing Drugs they automatically think of athletes and how it will make them a better player. However, using drugs to make an athlete better is extremely unhealthy. When players use these drugs they get a power they never had before. They feel like a completely new player that has the skill and strength to do anything they want to while playing their sport. When they are using these drugs they are not thinking about how they are risking their lives. Most athletes do not realize how dangerous these are, and the ones that do realize how dangerous the drugs are obviously do not mind risking their life to play a good game.…

A substance is considered to be performance enhancing if it benefits sports performance by increasing strength, power, speed, or ergogenic or by altering the body weight/composition. Furthermore, in a simple sense, the substances that improves performance by causing changes in behavior and performance in the advantage of the person should be considered performance enhancing. PEDs are illegal to use as it degrades the natural working phenomenon of the human body in athletes. Use of steroids can have serious health repercussions. As steroid give an athlete a superhuman like ability in their performance in respective sports, they tend to use it more than the recommended dose. Should Steroids be legalized in professional sports? Steroids are one of a large group of chemical substances classified by a specific carbon structure. There are several types of performance-enhancing drugs: anabolic steroids, stimulants, human growth hormone and supplements. The use of drugs to enhance performance in sports has occurred since the time of the original Olympic Games from 776 to 393 BC-2015.The origin of the word 'doping' is attributed to the Dutch word 'dope,' which is a viscous opium juice, the drug of choice of the ancient Greeks. Many sports associations are now involved in monitoring and testing players for banned PED use. An important issue regarding this topic, is whether steroids should be legalized in professional sports? The major arguments are the following: are steroids safe? Are the penalties fair and consistent? And are steroids beneficial? A sport that is considered free of performance-enhancing drugs tends to have a good reputation, especially when compared to sports such as cycling and swimming where the use of performance-enhancing drugs is considered rife. By permitting the use of performance-enhancing drugs, the public perception of these drugs, especially surrounding youth, could be flipped, with people believing that it is ‘okay’ and ‘normal’ to use drugs that are very bad for a persons health. Recent statistics from the Health Research Funding organisation show that, among American teenagers who use steroids, 60% were encouraged into practice because of a professional that was taking these drugs. All of these teenagers went on to say that it was the right of a professional athlete to be able to use these drugs, no matter the cost to their…

I have seen in the media the topic about steroids being brought up. I know that performance enhancement drugs are illegal in the United States. I have read of cases where famous athletes used performance enhancement drugs to increase their performance abilities, however the courts ruled that the use of performance enhancement drugs are way to cheat and present an extreme health risk with excessive use. The topic is controversial because with access of performance enhancement drugs increasing and new ways to disguise the traces left in the body can officials control the use of steroids.…
