Letter to my Grandchildren
To who ever finds this letter,

My name is John Dough and I am 15 years old.

I am writing to you to tell you what life is like in the 1990's so you can compare it to your life. I am also writing because you may find it interesting to read about the past in the first hand.

I have three sisters, Lucy who is 18,Hannah who is 13 and Jodie who is 8. Jeanette lives with her boyfriend and her daughter Nicole who is 5, so that makes me an uncle. My two other sisters are still at school. My parents' names are Mick and Christine. My dad owns a Japanese car repair and spare parts business. My mum works in Rooks Heath High School. We have a dog, he is an English Springer Spaniel. He needs a lot of exercise because his breed of dog is bred as a gun dog so they have very good endurance. He goes for at least one run in the park every day.

I remember when we first got him. We knew as soon as we saw him looking out at us from his little kennel that we had to have him.

I like shooting, Clay Pigeon shooting and Air Rifle Shooting. For Clay Pigeon Shooting I have a 12 bore shotgun. To have a shotgun you need a shotgun license. Just recently there has been an outcry for a ban on privately owned handguns after the Dunblain massacre, which was when a lunatic broke into a school and gunned down a class of children and their teacher. It was tragic. The shooting I do is just for sport and is well supervised., this handgun ban could also bring a tightening on getting a shotgun license so it would be harder to get one. I shoot what is called Skeet mostly but I also shoot Compact Sporting. I go Clay Pigeon Shooting every Saturday at West London Shooting Grounds in Ruislip.

I remember the first time I ever shot a shotgun, it was my uncles 12 bore semi automatic and it very nearly knocked me off of my feet, I was only 10 years old. It shocked me so I didn't start shooting until I was 13 and a bit bigger and stronger. For air Rifle shooting I have a Webley .177 air rifle, you don't need a

A rifle is an amazing weapon. There are tons of things you can do with a rifle and so many different kinds of calibers that you can shoot. Anything from a .22 caliber bullet all the way up to a .50 caliber bullet, this will shoot well over a mile. Rifles are used far more by hunters than any other gun out there. The rifle can take all kinds of game and is also very accurate with really long distances. With the rifle, you have a better chance at a good, clean kill because of its accuracy. When learning how to shoot rifles, it takes a lot of practice and patience when shooting because the slightest twitch will send your bullet off target. Another important thing to remember is if you use a scope, you will always have to be very cautious to not to bump your gun into anything or drop it because it is…

All guns serve different purposes. Guns have been a part of American history for many years. Many different kinds of guns have been used for many different types of jobs. In like manner hunters have different guns for different game. Just as police use guns for law enforcement, hunters use guns to harvest game. The two most commonly used firearms of hunters, are the rifle and the shotgun. Both the rifle and the shotgun are used for hunting, but the two have some major differences. The main differences between the two firearms are cost, range and the type of ammunition that each firearm uses.…

Why I believe you should carry a gun. I believe everyone should be able to carry a gun for safety. Let’s put it this way, if a gang or terrorists were to come to Clarksville to try to kill you or your family and maybe take your possessions, you have the right to protect what is legally yours. Also, I love to hunt. Guns are a great way to hunt plus if there is a wild animal around that you know could or would attack you can always shoot it because you have that right. Since I live out in the woods pretty much, we have a lot of those and they are mean.…

The first type of firearms is pistols. Pistols are defined as a handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel (“Pistol”). Most pistols are used for self/home defense. This is mainly because of their compact size and high magazine capacity. Pistols are also good for sport and competition shooting. These styles of shooting are for recreational use. They are a test of how accurate and skilled you are with your pistol. Pistols may also be used for hunting. They are generally used for back-up weapons for hunters, though. This is because of their short-range capability. Pistols are versatile, but may not be the perfect choice for all your needs.…

Rea Scott Lunder May 1, 2013 HT-MGT397J Reflection Paper I always heard stories from my dad about how great the 1970s and1980s were but I never could grasp what was so great about it. After interviewing my father about what made the 1980s unique, special, and different, I was really able to make a connection of how identical his description was to the one that took place in Ready Player One. After comparing the similarities between the two, I was also able to make the connection of how different everything is today compared to the lifestyle back in the 1980s.…

Maggie Cole Mrs. Schuette 12 February 2014 English 9B TITLE In 2008, sixty seven percent of murders were committed in the United States with guns, sixty seven percent is 10,886 out of 16,272 crimes that involved guns. (Agresti, James D) More gun control could decrease that number significantly. Gun constrictions will not hinder Americans hunting or hobbies, it will help stop the shooter from getting guns. Even though people think that guns are not a problem, there needs to be more restrictions on guns because it would decrease shootings and mass murders, it would reduce deaths and injuries associated with guns, and civilians do not need semi-automatic weapons.…

Children enjoy the feeling they get when they shoot chair and pretend that it was a deer. The best way to do so is to give them fake guns to shoot. This will make them want to go out in the wild and hunt. The most important part is that this will show your children, the more important things in life.
