Dear Sue Monk Kidd, I am writing to you today telling you about your book The Secret Life of Bees. The Secret Life of Bees is an interesting story that I enjoyed very much. This story has a very complex plot and storyline. The main character, Lily, has a tough life living with her abusive father I wish T. Ray could have been a little bit nicer to Lily. I do not like how he is so ridged with her. I love Lily as a character because she is just so curious about her dead mother even though she her ignorant father will not tell her.     Stories have an extremely important effect on the lives and the characters in the novel entitled, The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kid. This book is about a young 14 year old girl named Lily Owens. She has to go through life knowing that she killed her mother and that her father loathes her. She runs away form home and breaks her friend Rosaleen out of the hospital. They finally find a home, based on the clues that Lily’s mother left behind, and moves in with a family that accepts her for who she is rather than what she has to do, she can express her individuality.     Love is different for each and every person. For some, it comes easy and happens early in life. For others, such as Janie in Their Eyes Were Watching God by Zora Neale Hurston, it happened much later in life after two unsuccessful marriages. Janie’s grandmother, Nanny raised Janie to be attracted to financial security and physical protection instead of seeking love. Nanny continually emphasized that love was something that was bound to happen after those needs were met; even though Nanny never married.
