Dear Residents, I am writing to inform you about joining our campaign to save the local sports centre. As I am sure you are already well aware, the local council are making plans to shut down our local sports centre, which is regularly used by many young people as well as the rest of the public and we don’t want it to close as it would be a great loss to the community but our wishes can only be fulfilled with your help.
The sports centre is the heart of the community. It keeps the cohesive mix of the community together with international activities such as Irish dancing, Spanish salsa and Flamenco dancing, Bollywood dancing and also Zumba which has recently become very popular with ages young and old, and be closing the centre these activities would cease to continue. So not only does the sports centre bring the community together it also provides a safe environment for family activities to take place. Family bonding is a very important and vital ingredient for a healthy relationship with each other and the sports centre is an ideal place to do this. There are many ‘family friendly’ activities are free for children so it’s also good value for your money.
Young people are also very well known at the sports centre. This is good because it gives the youth of today something constructive to do and keep them from creating mischief on the streets. Chief Inspector Jones tells us that crime on the streets has drastically reduced since the sports centre was built in 2001. As the sports centre has the correct facilities to accommodate many youths it keeps them off the streets which is beneficial for the not only the children but the parents and public also.
The Olympics are coming! This is another reason why the sports centre should stay open. Not only could some people train there but also the centre could hold fundraising activities. The centre is all about keeping people fit as obesity levels are on the rise and people need to keep fit. There are many weight loosing programs you could sign up for include ‘Mums Bums & Tums’, and ‘Mums Baby and Toddler group’. The sports centre is also very affordable so everyone can take part in the groups.
So join our campaign and save the sports centre its only possible with your help so get acting now. For more information call 02089347853.

I made my way across the parking lot, towards the entrance to the gym. As I reached the double doors I paused, then slowly turning, I attempted to take in as much of the outside view as I could. I saw a green meadow dotted with a few thoughtfully placed picnic tables, a few baseball, and soccer fields. I also noticed that this place is home to a busy skateboard park right beside a well-kept playground. My pan of the scene had revealed to me that this place has grown into something more than what I had remembered it to be. Today this center welcomes people of all ages. In contrast, when the U.S. Air Force ran this facility it was for military personnel and their adult dependents. It was a simple gymnasium with a couple of minimally groomed baseball diamonds and multipurpose fields, lacking any beauty. Today, the sturdy old building and surrounding fields are a beautiful sight to behold, and maintained by a local community services organization. The quick survey of the sports center had reminded me that this place is still serving the community in a big way with its available venues and activities.…

Most schools are oblivious to their expenses. And in this day and age, the costs are rising. In paragraph five, Paul Sullivan of The New York Times emphasizes in The Rising Cost of Youth Sports, “Spending on sports has grown so high-up to 10.5 percent of gross income-that it is hurting family harmony.” The evidence shows how budgets have forced districts and parents to reconsider one of time's most beloved activities. Which is one hundred percent a good thing. The rising in costs take away from other activities. Schools also misuse fundings on sports. Overpaying for the best field, up to date equipment, and overpaid trainers is a huge waste of money. Superintendent Rob Van Maren from the Chieftain announced at a board meeting that the cost of new bleachers would be around $380,000. Over a third of a million dollars used for cold metal seats? That type of money could go elsewhere. TheU.S Census Bureau stated, “ Fifty seven percent of students participate in at least one after school extracurricular activity,” They also said that more than half of those students is doing a sport. What about clubs? The evidence points to how little students are involved in a club. Instead of spending all their cash on sports, use it to benefit activities such as drama, or chess club. Not everything needs to be about sports. The price tag that comes with a sport is a big one, which is why schools need to kick athletics…
