The LeRoy Butler Story
LeRoy Butler story is an amazing nonfiction book to read. The Story is 194 pages long and was published by J.JKeller in 2003.It talks about LeRoy’s life from when he was born through high school, college and his career with the Green Bay Packers.LeRoy was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He grew up in Jacksonville, Florida with his mother and brother and sister. Leroy was born with severely bad clubfeet he couldn’t even walk. He had to have surgery and he had a full body cast from chest down when he was only eight months old. Once he got the body cast off he was given leg braces to wear, that would keep his feet straight and separated from each other. LeRoy's brother and sister had to help him get dressed every morning.LeRoy's mother didn’t like that he tried to get up the stairs by himself, but LeRoy always tried his best to get up the stairs without any help. On LeRoys sisters prom night his sister was with his mom upstairs getting ready for her date, and his sisters date came to the door, Leroy told him to come in and also told him that his sister is up stiars getting ready. Knowing she was late she rushed downstairs, knocking LeRoy over and out of his wheelchair. One of his braces broke when he fell out of his wheelchair, LeRoy was really angry and he jumped up and started yelling and stomping his feet.Vicki LeRoys sister looked ant LeRoy and started crying, he thought that she was crying because he was yelling at her but, she was crying because LeRoy was standing without his braces. LeRoy lived in the projects of Jacksonville. Jefferson street which ran in front of his familys apartment, had more chalk lines marking dead bodies than it had hopscotch lines. Shootings, knifings and crack cocaine were really common on Jefferson Street.LeRoy went to Junior High School at Fort Caroline. LeRoy went to Robert E.
