The world has constantly changed throughout the ages, the one big turning point that changed how the world works today through its timeless music, art, philosophy, and discoveries is the Renaissance. The Renaissance was an important time in European society; the people had grown into something more than the people before them in the ways of culture. People say that it was just a time of intellectual and cultural learning, but the art, music, and literature shows just how important it really was. He is of course known for his art such as the Mona Lisa, and The Last Supper, but perhaps his most important works involve the human anatomy. Da Vinci’s studies of the human body led to many advances in medicine and how the body worked and what it looked, like from the inside. He also made many advances and plant and animal structure which have led to many other scholars of the time to make their own discoveries about medicines which helped to increase life expectancy. Da Vinci lived from 1452 until 1519 and due to his diversity of study the phrase Renaissance man has been coined for him and anyone who is like him. (Encyclopaedia Britannica Inc., 2016) Another key figure was Michelangelo who lived from 1475 to 1564. He is most known for his contributions and rebirth of art. He is most famous for his painting of the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, which shows an amazing amount of technical skill and precision. While he was alive he considered himself to be a much better sculptor than a painter. He is most famous for his sculpture the David which can be viewed in person if one travels to Florence.
