Learning New Skills
With every culture comes communication, language is the most important tool that we can use in our day-to-day lives. People need to communicate with each other since this is how the human race coexists with each other and sets us above the rest. We communicate with each other even if we do not know each other. Speaking is one of the most common ways, but nonverbally is the other way we all communicate. The nature of communications are very important in our lives, we all need to improve our interpersonal and intrapersonal communication skills to be able to comprehend each other better. “Communication is complex; it requires a number of skills and both ongoing learning and practice to improve our skills.” (Sole, 2011. sec.1.1) We can use our facial expressions to another person and eye contact to make a feeling get across without even saying a word. Therefore, it is so powerful how to perfect these skills for our future careers and social gatherings.
I believe that I am better at Intrapersonal communications since I am always planning in my head on how to solve problems and get a game plan together. However, I am a cooperative learner, meaning that I work better with others in a group situation. I like to feed off others and use it to help others in my career goals and lifestyle. Also, I know that I can always become a better communicator by really listening. After reading the chapters suggested this week I found out I can improve my Appropriate Skill Selection in my business for client’s color choices for their homes. I find it hard to communicate with other cultures that do not speak my language and cannot recognize the problem when it arises. I need to know how to deal with the problem by noticing the cause first. Don’t get me wrong I do interact with different cultures and can communicate very well with all, but I need to look at their needs and backgrounds more closely before a situation arises on a color disagreement.
