Leadership Styles in Organizations

Different organizations across many sectors have exhibited varying leadership styles. Leadership styles have significant impacts not only in small organizations but also in the world’s largest businesses. It is imperative for organizations to be particular about the leadership style imposed on business operations as these styles affect everyone from senior management to the newest college attaché. Leadership styles are crucial as they lay the foundation for corporate culture and largely influence the performance and operations of the organization. This study paper explores the varied leadership styles in the contemporary organizations. Not all institutions have similar leadership styles, hence the need to understand and explore the various styles practiced by organizations today. Leadership efficacy is reliant on the particular circumstances and mix of leadership styles employed over time. In a nutshell, leadership style is the process in which a leadership team or a person in authority instills a sense of discipline, workmanship, and commitment to the goals of an organization (Wart, 2008). Leadership styles also encompass interpersonal relations both within and outside the organization. In addition, leadership styles involve people’s views on themselves and their positions which, in turn, reflect on their success as leaders.

In any organization, the embraced leadership style is of utmost importance as it cultivates the culture and image of the business. The leadership style of an organization is reflected in its image by clients, community and other organizations on the same line of business. In essence, an organization is defined by its leadership styles. There is the need for an organization to have and adhere to its mission and philosophy. This requires a leadership style that is consistent with goals that also reflect on the mission of an organization. Moreover, if an organization has certain objectives and
