This will probably go un-noticed if the task is the main focus and the first indicator may be a high turnover of staff and a reduction in overall performance.…

Matthews' anecdote about Lyndon B. Johnson's first foray into politics, as a secretary for a representative during the Great Depression, is one example of how a person may become a leader simply by demonstrating leadership qualities. The young Johnson, staying in the same hotel as many of the other congressional secretaries, made it his mission to meet and befriend each and every one of them. Though he picked an unlikely method in which to accomplish his goal, his "innovative" methods paid off when three months later he was elected leader of the House staff assistants. Once Johnson proved that he was willing to do whatever it took to accomplish his goals, the people around him saw that he was a strong leader, and thus selected him over his peers. In a nation where nearly all members of the government are elected by people who have faith in their leadership skills, this anecdote seems especially applicable. While there is no one obvious set of qualities that defines a leader, it is obvious that some…

My favorite story he told was about when he and his mentor Andy went for a walk. Randy stated, “Andy put his arm around my shoulders and we went for a little walk and he said, Randy, it's such a shame that people perceive you as so arrogant. Because it's going to limit what you're going to be able to accomplish in life.” The purpose for the story is so awesome. He was sharing an excellent example of how a mentally in-tuned leader /mentor can use a positive approach to bring their under-study to a higher level of personal awareness. A passionate leader can…

He created rules, teams, and a general attitude of the league and broadcasts before having any players, coaches, owners, or announcers in place. McMahon believed he could create his own stars no matter who they were coming in. To be a success, you need the who first, then the what; a mentality McMahon was lacking.…

It is facilitating the group, taking responsibility for failures, and passing success on to the group.” I also asked Steven what his leadership style was and I gather him to be a Servant Leader. Steven fathers that if someone is allowed to do something in their own unique way, they are typically more productive and genuinely excited about the process than if he would to micromanage and tell them how things needed to be done. What is a leader? According to Kouzes and Posner, leadership is “the art of mobilizing others to want to struggle for a shared aspiration”, and indeed, these men go further to posit that leadership transcends a certain mode of behavior, rather, that it is an active set of skills and qualities that is clearly apparent. (Kouzes & Posner, 2012) An essential quality then, is a quality in leader that is necessary to achieving the goal of inspiring subordinates to said struggle. This essay will attempt to identify the three essential qualities of leadership from a stimulus, namely an episode of Undercover Boss.
