Leadership Plan
A Rubik cube is my perception for the word ‘Leadership’ and I relate its corners to the personal traits and its edges to the conceptual and interpersonal skills required to be a prosperous leader. I have aligned few of these edges and corners to my leadership domain but I intend to continue to learn and experience the remaining essentials facets of this domain to complete my Rubik cube i.e. bring the best leader out of me. To do so, I aspire to work in different environments and diverse teams and eventually mould myself to transform from a Telecom Network Consultant to a Business Leader in Telecom Network Operations. To get into those shoes and be successful, I crave to polish the following essential leadership competencies during my tenure at Anderson i.e. visioning new changes, building and managing big and difficult teams, persuading diverse internal and external work groups, motivating and coaching resources, experiencing both autocratic and democratic leadership styles, resolving conflicts peacefully and taking responsibility and accountability for my decisions.
Leadership foundation course bolstered me not only to fathom my own leadership reflection a little better but also to unfold my strengths and weaknesses that I usually don’t give much relevance. One such strength that the course has helped me appreciate is my understanding of importance of open and continuous communication. During the Tanagram exercise, being a part of the management team, I was one of the two people who sensed a possible anxiety in the production team members while the management team was working on the planning and design of the task. Considering that the production team had to perform the task within a stipulated time and that they could have only few minutes face to face time with the management team before starting the task, we not only initiated written form of communication with the production team to set some initial expectations but also dedicated a resource from the

Through the first three weeks of this course I have been reminded of some previously learned concepts and introduced to others that have literally opened my eyes to what I already imagine will be a clear path to increased effectiveness and value as a leader. The Disc Management assessment helped set the stage by defining my inherent leadership style as Si. (Everything Disc Management Profile, 2014) This style is characterized by its bent toward collaboration, encouragement and support. I was encouraged by Jack’s statement in the book Winning as he pointed out that “leadership is not just about you – it’s about them”. (Welch, Jack, Winning, Chapter 5 – Leadership). These readings confirmed for me what I feel are my core strengths as a leader – collaborating, engaging team members, driving the vision home and celebrating the results. I have an innate ability to build rapport quickly and through that rapport start on a fast track with team members to build trust. I gave an example in one of our discussion threads of a specific time when I demonstrated my leadership ability. It was an instance where I lead a team of recruiters in our Services business segment in an effort to revamp our entire recruiting process to fall into compliance with a set of forthcoming government regulations that were eventually going to be mandated. The timeline was very tight and the stakeholders were numerous. By binging all of the team together and educating them on current stat, the tenants of the OFCCP, and the impact non-compliance would have on a company of our stature, I was able to get our entire team to buy into the vision of our future state and quickly get behind the effort to bring our practices into…

In order for a church to carry out its mission it needs effective leader/leadership. But what is leader/leadership? In spite all that has been said about leadership there is no universally accepted definition of a leader/leadership. Perhaps the next best definition of Christian leader is taken from The Making of a Leader by Bobby Clinton: “a person with God-given capacity and God-given responsibility who influences a group of followers toward God’s purposes for the group.”(p.127). In my own words this is someone who follows the example of Christ and does so in a way that influences others.…

The area of human services in which I would most like to work is with the homeless. Besides having my own personal experiences with homelessness, I think that it is an ongoing issue in the United States that needs community and governmental assistance. With the economy being in a state of recession, the rate of homelessness is continuing to increase with no sign of slowing down. People are losing their incomes leading them to losing their homes. While some are able to downsize to a smaller place that is more affordable for themselves and their families, there are others that are unable to secure a place to live and have resorted to either living with relatives, in motels or even worse, shelters.…

Being a leader is a real skill that requires time, commitment, thought and dedication. According to Pearson (2015), “Leaders are people with the ability to rule, guide, or inspire others to think or act as they recommend” (p. 2489). At times it may seem very overwhelming and situations may feel as if they are unsolvable and desired outcomes are unattainable; however, if you portray the unique characteristics of a leader it will help you overcome stressful tasks with ease and confidence.…
