In the lord of the flies Golding explores the theme of dynamic leadership throughout the novel. Ralph is the most dynamic and effective leader in the lord of the flies because he is the primary representative of order, civilization, and productive leadership. Jack is the most effective leader in Lord of the Flies because he has gotten the most results when following through with plans. The boys on the island listen to him and do what he says without question, even if it is harsh. He isn’t afraid to be blunt with the boys and believes he is the strongest one there, even though he was not voted chief. Jack’s arrogant and hostile personality makes the other boys feel intimidated to follow his commands. This is apparent when Jack orders the boys to start collecting leaves, sticks, and dried wood to help create the fire: “All at once the crowd swayed toward the island and was gone--- following Jack. Even the tiny children went and did their best among the leaves and broken branches” (Golding 38). In…

Imagine a world without leadership and order. One that wasn’t civilized, had no control. Such a world would be classified as savage at the very least. Ralph represents this leadership and order in the boys’ new world on the island. When he loses his ability to stay sane and keep order, everything turns for worse. Golding portrays the importance in control and advantageous leadership through the protagonist, Ralph in the novel Lord of The Flies by illustrating him as a natural leader, then having him shift into an uncivilized animal whose losing control.…

In Lord of the Flies Jack proves that people are essentially evil through his actions and dialogues with other boys on the island. For example, he would speak with the other boys and say, “‘His specs-use them as burning glasses’” (Golding 40) Jack uses has authority even though Ralph is chief and uses that to his advantage to make the boys do what he wants. This is definitely a good example of how humans are essentially evil because using authority to get people to do what they want is very selfish and self-centered. At the beginning of the story where authority is being decided Jack says, “‘I ought to be chief,’ said Jack with simple arrogance, ‘because I’m a chapter chorister and head boy. I can sing C sharp’” (Golding 22) Even at the beginning…

A dictionary definition of a leader is a guiding hand in a movement or group. My definition of a leader is someone who stands out amongst the rest and steps up to the task and helps the “followers” advance and strive to become a leader as well. The only way a leader can be effective is by leading by example. A prime example of this is Malala Yousafzai. She was shot in the face for trying to go to school. If she hadn’t gone to school she wouldn’t have been shot, but she also wouldn’t have a Nobel Peace prize. She is now using her story to speak for access to education for everyone. A leader is someone who leads by example and uses their skills to help others succeed.…

The role of a leader is challenging task to take on, especially when you're a young boy. As proven in the novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, in order to be an effective leader, you have to have no moral character. Being a leader without moral character leads to more effective ruling, because your followers will obey you more than a ruler with moral character, who tends to be more lenient with their style of ruling. The challenge was taken by originally taken on by Ralph, who with moral character, tried to keep the island in order, and Jack, who without moral character, ruled more efficiently and had more people listen to his orders. Being a leader without moral character, such as Jack, is more effective than being a leader with moral…
