Lord of the Flies
The movie is about a group of children who were on a trip and they were on their way back home. The plane they were traveling in crashed near a remote island. It seemed that all of the kids were alive and no casualties had happened. The Captain was seriously injured and was out of consciousness. The kids tried to take care of him and keep him hydrated. They also had a net hanging from a tree that covered most of his body to protect him from insects. They started to figure out ways to adapt and to survive in the new environment they found themselves in.
One of the cadets, Piggy, found a Conch in the ocean and figured out a way to make a horn from it. When everyone heard the sound of the horn they came running to the origin of the sound. This was the first norm that was established in this group (Galanes & Adams, 2011, pg. 100). They took this opportunity to have a meeting. The cadets started to discuss what they will do to survive. During the meeting the group wanted to elect a leader. It seemed that Colonel Ralph was already a designated leader (Galanes & Adams, 2011, pg.257) and Jack became an emergent leader (Galanes & Adams, 2011, pg. 257). They wake them up by poking through their tent with the spears. What they wanted was Piggy’s glasses to start another fire. The next day, Ralph and Piggy go to the other clan’s camp and tried to call a meeting using the conch. Piggy was giving a persuasive speech (Galanes & Adams, 2011, pg. 296) to tell everyone that they needed to work together to be able to survive and get off the island and to follow Ralph 's leadership. Unfortunately, the other clan refused to listen to him. One of the kids pushes a boulder off a cliff and it falls onto Piggy’s head and kills him. Ralph is now on his own and the other clan is out to get
