Law School Perseverance
When I tell someone I want to go to law school the first thing they always want to talk about is how difficult it will be. When I talk to an admissions officer or a councillor the first thing that comes up is the rigor of the course work. There is obviously no denying that law school is one of the most challenging endeavors a person can undertake, one that requires an abundance of intelligence, creativity, and passion, but what’s more important than all of those is perseverance. You can be the most intelligent or creative or passionate student to ever come through a law school but if you don’t have perseverance, the second it gets difficult you will fail. Perseverance is something that my parents taught me from the day I was born and in today’s age of instant gratification there is a premium on someone who can …show more content…
Being pulled cross country, having to leave behind friends and family, and even pets, I learned what it meant to take hardship and turn it into important life skills. Living in new cities every few years, I learned how to adapt to different cultures and people and not just interact but to create relationships. I learned to turn my anger and frustration, at leaving yet another place I called home, to determination to make my next home better than the last. When I came to college and found myself with a 1.7 GPA, lost and behind, I didn’t give up but rather focused my energy to improving myself and building my GPA back up to a 3.0 going into my senior year. My perseverance is my greatest asset in life and what will make me a great asset to this University. I think Will Smith said it best when he said “You might have more talent than me, you might be smarter than me, you might be sexier than me, you might be all of those things . . . But if we get on the treadmill together, there's two things: You're getting off first, or I'm going to die. . .

I worked so hard to get at this moment. Only thing that keeps coming into mind is how upset I am that I ruined my chance of graduating with honors only because I wanted to try to be part of a family that I would always feel accepted, only to feel the same, at the same time ruining my GPA that in turn ruined my chance of graduating with honors even though I had received only A’s some B’s since entering my social work major. I hoped for an acknowledgment for my hard work all these six years and only have the graduation to be shown. This is why it will be a happy day for me to leave Missouri Western. It means the end of an era and beginning of a new one.…

My dream for the next four years is to achieve a Physician Assistant degree at St. John’s University. As I transition to college from high school, I understand how there is no one in the world besides myself to help me reach my goal and it will require hard work as well as motivation to reach that point. For as long as I can remember, I was always a well-known member of my school’s student body. I was the girl teachers requested, I made everything I ever tried out for, and in every leadership position in almost every club. In life, there are periods of transition in which individuals often face daunting challenges or obstacles. Overcoming these challenges at pivotal points of transition can impel the individual to develop essential character qualities and skills for surmounting adversity. My transition into high school was momentous. Here I knew that the decisions I made would likely have a strong impact on my future. Therefore, I had to be meticulous about the extracurricular activities I wanted to be involved in. This mindset allowed me to stay focused and determined because I wasn't focused on going to the next party or the new music that was out. I cared solely about the legacy I left behind. That is why I decided to run for student government at the end…

Fortunately, by the fifth grade my parents were able to rent an apartment nearby our school and had found jobs in multiple Brownsville restaurants. After the move, things became much easier and we were able to have a much simpler life, though we were never able to forget the hardships we experienced and the effort we put into enhancing our lives. Today, I am sure my successes as of now are gratifying my parents as I am in the top 10% of my class, the Co-Captain of the Golden Stars Dance Team, member of the National Honor Society, Piano Club, HOSA, and in TRIO UTRGV talent search program. I attend rigorous AP classes to improve my opportunity to attend a university and have the finest future I can give myself. Although my triumphs may not look like much to most, I can assertively say that the trial of going through difficulty to have a superior future has been overcome with the comfort of focus, strength, and the right set of mind to build a better tomorrow for my family and…

I am proud of my achievements. Even though it took me being defeated multiple times to understand that medicine is no joke for me. In today’s world, a college education is the cornerstone of life. Obtaining a college degree opens many doors of opportunity. These building blocks of opportunity will help shape who I am as a person. I am building a future, striving for success, and always looking to better myself. Abraham Lincoln once said “Always bear in mind that your own resolution to succeed is more important than any other.” I have been haunted by similar words, in my own head, for quite some time. I never finished college, yet I love to learn. I have always dreamed of completing college, owning a company, or working in an office. Now, given the opportunity, completing this degree will become my greatest achievement. Until now, I have always felt that I let myself down. I’ve always had the best intentions, but life’s unexpectedness put several roadblocks in the way of me completing a degree. I graduated high school twenty-five years ago. Since then, I have raised a family and have unfulfilling employment. Being able to attend college and complete this degree which I am embarking upon is important to me because I have matured into the person I want to be.…

No matter what situation brought me down, I remained positive and tried to think of solutions rather than giving up. Finally, in the last few months, many of my peers would mention that I am the type of person who is able to withstand obstacles and recover quickly.…
