Law Enforcement Career Research Paper
My senior project plan is to showcase my career choice of becoming a law enforcement officer. I am going to go to college for criminal justice to better my education, and achieve top standards for eventually becoming a detective. My current knowledge on this subject was obtained from an acquaintance who is a law enforcement officer for the Hyde County Sheriff’s Office. I have learned so far that there is a not only a test that must be taken but also a physical test, which includes several tasks that must be completed in order to enter a law enforcement career. I will narrow my topic by organizing each bullet point with paragraphs in order to establish a good structure. I plan to accumulate my sources by interning with the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and riding along with them to see what they encounter with their career. My mentor will be able to give me an important outlook on information regarding their career. I will experience first hand what goes on in one day on the …show more content…
This poster will include pictures of the ride, and event times throughout the day. For example if we respond to a domestic violence call at 2:15 I will take a picture and write the information and time. This will go on throughout the day so the events will be documented for the product presentation. I will need developed pictures, a poster board, and other stationery such as glue, markers, etc. in order to create my product. The predicted cost of my product is about $25.00. I hope to learn about the responsibilities it takes to be a law enforcement officer, and the skills needed to strive. This will give me an idea if I am sure that I want to pursue this career, and whether or not it is a good fit for me. My mentor will be Christina Knox because she is a officer for the Martin County Sheriff’s Office, and has been working with them for 10 years as a officer, and now a detective. She will be able to inform me on her career, and any questions I might have. Completing this product will be a learning stretch for me because I will have to ride along with the officer to experience their typical day on the job.
